So we are just going for Christmas songs, or those with a Christmassy feel to them, and not ones that reached No 1 at Christmas?

Direct christmas songs, and those wintery/feels like the season songs are allowed. Christmas No 1s which don't fit either of those descriptions don't qualify....so no Bohemian Rhapsody I'm afraid.

Cool. Not even I would try and get Rhapsody in a Christmas list. I just presumed that all the song mentioned in the list were actual Christmas songs and allowed until Rawls mentioned that some were just number ones at Christmas. I suppose a title like Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter should have been something of a giveaway

Thanks to Rawls, I'll be including a lot of songs from this great album! Maybe these songs would suit MonsterCat better than more traditional ones

Or Iron Maiden .

On the upside, I've just realised that means I can vote for Snowblind.

I have a shirt list now of about 140 and I've not even finished. Just dug out Yuletide Disco for more inspiration

Can we vote for some songs without specifying an artist? Especially for more traditional carols and the like, there are plenty of great versions so can we just have the song and not a specific rendition?

For carols or traditional music, it doesn't matter if you specify an artist - the only time it needs specification is if it's a different arrangment. Others, I'd prefer an artist for, but carols it doesn't matter.

Oh or Joan Jett's version of Little Drummer Boy. Which edges out the super weird Bing and Bowie one. (Fairytale goes without saying).

I think it's a given, certainly is for me

I missed that earlier.

On the wintery songs theme, can I have Famous Blue Raincoat? The opening line does establish that it's December. The end of December no less, so, you know, Christmas. It also mentions that it's cold.

Does this count? click It's from a Christmas movie, even performed in the film by the cast. It's played on Christmas Radio stations (looking at you, Smooth Christmas) but it is a cover and was never intended to be a Christmas song. But would that version count? It's meaning is very 'Christmassy' and I love it

What about Only You by Yazoo?

The cover by the Flying Pickets was a Christmas number one, but Yazoo's version is better. Also, it was used in The Office Christmas Special, so I always associate it with Christmas.

I got the Darkness on the Edge of Town box-set for Christmas, so I always associate Bruce with Christmas. Can I vote for every one of his songs, please?
