I love it!

Gimli, I hope I can count on you to get "It Feels Like Christmas" into the top 10 - I think with our combined efforts we could manage it.

Does a hot Miss Piggy smell of smoky bacon? I love that album, bought it a couple of years ago

I love this, it's one of my fave Chrimbo songs, and someone made a video for it using clips from various Muppet Christmas shows/films- click

That's really nice.

On a slightly more raucous note, any votes for Jingle Bell Rock should be for Dr.Teeth and the Electric Mayhem's rendition - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3usVx8XMGQQ

Their version of this too- click

That album which I also own, gave us this too- click (the order of Muppets singing is different from the TV special, Kermit is supposed to sing second)

Muppets and Christmas songs are always good

But we can't forget Sesame Street! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NTUoFhNR2Q

I'd also liek to see the California Raisins make the cut - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs--phzj2TQ

I have to ask, are things like Killing in the Name and Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter actually allowed then? Not just because they're both really shit, but surely a song isn't a Christmas song just because it was number one at Christmas? And Bring Your Daughter wasn't even that, Cliff Richard was the Christmas number one.

There's loads of Christmas number ones that aren't christmassy, I would say no to them all if I was running this. But then I'd probably say no to wintery ones as well. It would be nice if, y'know a Christmas song won the Christmas poll.

I think including wintery ones makes sense, just because otherwise you might get a lot of people struggling to fill lists, but most of the actual Christmas number ones are, as you say, not about Christmas. I think a Christmas one will still walk it though. Probably Fairytale because everyone (except Gimli) likes it or a carol (In the Bleak Midwinter ftw). And if Christmas number ones are allowed then you're basically allowing some of the worst shit ever recorded - The Blobby song, Military Wives, Alexandra Burke's cover of Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody... On the plus side we could all vote for a couple of Beatles songs and the Pet Shop Boys cover of Always on My Mind.

I think - if they were Christmas Number One but weren't at all festive, Christmassy or at all seasonal, then no.

But would you class songs like Winter Wonderland, or Let it Snow, as winter songs then? Because they don't mention Christmas at all, yet I'd say they were definately Christmas songs. As Rawlinson says, so many Christmas songs aren't about Christmas.

And Tom Waits wise - we could just all legitimately vote for this rather than rely on my crooked voting system... - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STXF9PZkjSQ.

I've actually put both the album version and the live Silent Night version on my list.

I also expect Springsteen's verision of Santa Claus is Coming to Town to feature on everyone's list. Mainly cos then I can get both Tom Waits and Springsteen into another list.

Yeah, and everyone should make it the version where he tells the story about him and Steve being visited by Santa.

Adam Sandler's recorded about three. I actually like the initial sentiment behind them as well.

I'll relent on the winter ones, I hadn't thought of Let it Snow or Winter Wonderland, fair enough.

Anything from 10 to 100 would be ace.

Yeah - multiple covers are fine. Though for carols, I think it doesn't matter as much, unless its a particular arrangement.
