Don't know I Was Born on Christmas Day, Step Into Christmas, Goodbye England, Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis (though I may have heard it if it appeared in Larry's thread about Waits?)

Never been keen on Silent Night or O Come All Ye Faithful, though the latter can sound magnificent. Hate Driving Home For Christmas and I doubt I'd like that version of Last Christmas as I don't like the original. Not so chuffed about Judy Garland either.

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree is ace.

Very surprised, and happy, that Thank God It's Christmas made the list. I thought it'd just me me that voted for it. Merry Christmas Everyone and Hark are both good.

Beaker?!

On that note, Gimli, did you see Pointless had a Muppets round the other day?

I did not! What day was it, I'll iplayer it?

She also loves Springsteen and asked me to go see him in March with her. Do I get a prize for having the most awesome mum out of all the forumites? And to the best of my knowledge she's never had sex with anybody from the forum either, I'm definitely winning in this situation.

You're seeing Bruce next year?! I am green with envy - I couldn't justify the ticket cost, and I didn't see him this year.

I'm hoping I can, I have a family reunion to go to next month which is going to put a hole in my wallet for sure. How much did it cost for the tickets over there? For what we're looking at, it's about 128 Aussie dollars.

The decent seats were around 100, for June - anything below the 100 mark I'd have been more comfortable with, but I know I can't justify it.

That's fair enough, at this rate I'm seriously doubting my chances for seeing Bruce. Depends on how much I drink on my holiday and knowing how alcoholic my extended family is, it will be a lot!

Anyways

It Feels Like Christmas - Lovely, I haven't seen Muppet's Christmas Carol in at least ten years, really needs a revisit pronto.

Last Christmas - Manic's cover > Original, though I like the original too. That might stem from having an unabashed liking for some of Michael's solo work and Wham's output though.

Being drunk can either drastically improve or drastically ruin a song. For example listening to something like Bad Religion by Frank Ocean or Laura by Bat For Lashes (two 2012 songs that come to mind) would be a bad idea while listening to Call Me Maybe can be lots of fun. Especially when you're at a club.

So in summary, Listening to Wham/George Michael whilst intoxicated > Listening to them sober

I actually really like Call Me Maybe, but a lot less since it first came out. Overplayed to death a tad, but I can't blame anyone, it's the greatest pop song of the year (yes CMM > Gangnam Style). I can't deny the social impact Gangnam has had though, it's immense.

What's Gangnam Style?

Stop The Cavalry - Good
Christmas Wrapping - Never heard of it
Run Run Rudolph - Ace
Must Be Santa - Never heard of it. As i's Dylan, probably best to use ear plugs.
Carol Of The Bells - Awesome
Santa Baby -Great song, great singer. Shame she was so bad as Catwoman though.
Troika - Awesome
Let It Snow! - Love it. Dean Martin's great.
December Will Be Magic Again - Don't know it, don't want to know it.
Wonderful Christmastime - Hate it
The Christmas Song - Superb
Lonely This Christmas - Rather be lonely than listen to this.]
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - Great

The Lennon is nice, but not one of my faves. Agree about Imagine, btw.
I Believe in Father Christmas is fantastic.
Mariah - For years I was convinced it was a cover of something from the 50s. Wonderful song.
White Christmas - Is there anyone who dislikes this song?
Merry Xmas Everybody - Again, it's just so hard to dislike.
Bing & Bowie - Just amazing.

Muppets is brilliant.

Wham! is just a great pop song and I also find the video hilarious. George, you were fooling no-one.

Jona Lewie - a barking song and I love it.

The Waitresses - really like it.

Bob Dylan is fantastic.

Carol of the Bells is so atmospheric.

Eartha Kitt singing Santa Baby gives me a strange feeling in my stomach.

Troika is amazing.

Dean Martin is Christmas personified.

Never heard that Kate Bush song before. Twas good.

McCartney - meh.

Nat King Cole - wonderful.

Mud - love it.

Andy Williams - great.

John Lennon - one of the Lennon solo songs that I like. And, yes, vastly superior to Imagine.

Greg Lake - love it.

Mariah Carey - a very good pastiche.

Bing Crosby - fantastic.

Slade - wins you over through its sheer goodwill.

Bing and Bowie - so bizarre, really, but it's fantastic.

Closer to the truth than you think

Happy Christmas (War is Over) - Hate
I Believe in Father Christmas - Decent
All I Want for Christmas Is You - I don't want this for Christmas
White Christmas - Ace
Merry Xmas Everybody - Bugger off
Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy - Bing's better than Bowie
