What’s the thinking on the trailer for this? We thinking WB will attach the teaser to The Hobbit, as they are bound to with the MoS theatrical.

They'd be fools not too. I don't think the Man of Steel teaser trailer was attached to many prints of Dark Knight Rises so WB NEED to sell their reinvention of a character people were turned off by the last time they saw him on film. And they NEED to sell as many people as possible on their new, original tentpole. Only place to do so is for The Hobbit, a film that everyone is going to go see.

It's Guillermo del Toro, so of course I'm into this, but am I the only person who sees this as him trying to do a live-action version of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime, without the hassle of actual doing it?

On paper, it just seems a little uninspired. Big Robots Vs. Big Monsters. Sure it will look the absolute business but I hope there is some real substance that brought him to this. Thus far I am not really a big fan of his when he works in English. His Spanish language films have all been truly outstanding but he never seems to get near those heights with his Hollywood efforts for me.

If this is the one that fusses the 2 sides of his work though, it could be something really special!

Yeah things tend to get a little .... awkward when he starts making films in English, but I think this has potential. That's not so say Hellboy/Blade 2 are not fun, but nothing like the magic of Pan's Labyrinth and the others. I would have liked to see how his Hobbit turned out personally. Let's hope there are some big script ideas behind the big robot battles.

Impressed with that news footage video. Instantly reminded me of the Cloverfield virals. Which is no bad thing.

I hate Cloverfield. I imagine it's just a marketing thing though.

I thought it was a piece of relatively enjoyable throw away guff.  Decent enough fun in the cinema but nothing more… whatsoever. What a highly irritating  group of individuals! I think the fact that they offed a few of them in quite unpleasant ways made me enjoy it more than I should have.

But I’m hoping Pacific Rim has a lot more going for it.

I never saw Battleship… but that is niggling away in my mind whenever I think of Pacific Rim at the moment. I’m seriously hoping that the trailer lays that fear well and truly to rest.

Well my initial reservations are still very much intact.

Looks pretty uninspired.

Personally, I’m getting too much of a Godzilla (remake) and Transformers vibe from the trailer.

Yeah but imagine that kind of material in the hands of someone who isn't a total cretin like Bay and Emmerich.

The exact vibe I get from the new trailer. NERV vs Godzilla.

Saw trailer at Iron Man 3. It looks pretty spectacular. Giant monsters v giant robots? Count me in.
