Yeah, me too. Don't forget, as Jiraffe pulled out, Lullaby doesn't get counted in the votes. How long does everyone else need? Also, anyone interested in the next round should pm me a nom. Reb has already nommed a book to take the first open slot.

Is there still a restriction on length?

Almost done for this round, and I'm glad there's not been an Emma-style slog this time!

I probably won't be able to take part in the next round, but I'm happy to keep counting the votes.

What did you have in mind? Pm me the title and I'll let you know if it's doable. I think the main thing will be to keep lengthy books down to one each round.

At Swim to finish AND I've found my copy of Lolita with the cover I remembered (in the back of one of the DVD shelves for no reason - I found it looking for a DVD).

I had a brief thought about We, the Drowned (680/700) but I've decided not to nominate that if I get a spot. Still everyone should read it, it's superb.

Ok, no problem.

Do you want me to reserve a slot? As we don't do blurbs, you can give me the name of your book later. Same for anyone else who wants one of the spaces. Although if you want a specific book then it's best to reserve it when you ask for the slot.

I'd love to give this a go but I would drag rounds on for years. I started Pirates with Scientists on the 2nd, I could finish it within an hour and I'm on page 8. Plus you'd all hate me when I choose Forrest Gump.

Depends on what you mean, a graphic novel or collection is fine as long as it's easily available, a single issue of a comic book, no.

With this question in mind, how much would you all hate me if I nominated a 800 page book?

As long as we are lenient with a deadline, I don't really mind.

I'd only do it if everyone is ok with it, and nobody else wanted a long book (if they did, they'd get priority) but there's a book I'd love to get people reading and I think they'd tell me to get fucked if I just give it as a rec'.

So you wouldn't be happy if I nominated The Mammoth Book of Suck?

Given your general taste I wouldn't be surprised if you hadn't already read it. The book I want to nom', I mean. Not The Mammoth Book of Suck.

Trying to figure out the deadline for this, can everyone just say how far along they are and how much time they'll need?

I'm done as well, what about the rest of you? Imp said she was done earlier in the thread. That leaves Elab, Rebel and Rhubarb.

I'm thinking of starting the next round as soon as we have enough noms rather than waiting on the results of this one first. Two places left.

That's fine, yeah. We initially said end of Feb' to include the extra book, but as it dropped down to six again I'm just wondering if there's wriggle room on that end date.

Got 'em, but you're missing The Quiet American.
