I trust the mods will be banning anyone who tries to bring Thrawn into this chat.

You say that, but the sad fact is that Thrawn is probably the most interesting Star Wars character since 1983.

Problem the sequels face

Making Episode 7 means you need a BIGGER BADDER THREAT, which devalues the previous six movies. Going to be hard to balance.

Well that's the problem with good space opera... the antagonists generally want to destroy or conquer the biggest possible things, entire civilisations etc

I fully support all of this. But why would they change Vader's voice, James Earl Jones is still alive isn't he?

Nope, it means you bring back all the iconic villains of the franchise - Vader, Maul, Palpatine, Dooku. And find a way to build a story around them.

I think the only realistic solution is to make the plot revolve around robot versions of all the series's villains. what TRUE STAR WARS FAN wouldn't want a robot Darth Maul? (perhaps with light-up triple blade lightsabre.)

I would say make it smaller - no Skywalkers, no Jedi. Star fighter pilots vs space pirates or something.

Given his age, I'm not sure he can sustain that voice again for so long. Laurence Fishburne would be perfect for Vader.

Yes, Disney are going to spend half a billion for Red Tails set in space. No point in utilising some of the most recognisable/iconic characters in cinematic history.

Hey guys - do you think George sold up to Disney and greenlit these sequels because he has a debilitating and/or terminal disease of some kind?

He realised he can't squeeze any more money out of it and can't be arsed to repeat 1977 all over again.

True, but I still think if JEJ can still do it, then definitely let him be first priority. Fishburne definitely in contention though yeah.

It could be that, or maybe he just really really really really loves money. Or maybe he just wanted to see his franchise expand and keep providing entertainment to new generblahblah.

Perhaps he may finally have enough money from this deal to research, construct and thoroughly test a working time machine.
