 Well why not, eh? Tempus fugit - he's growing older, missing M (for 'Mummy'), more aware of his own mortality, perhaps even contemplating there someday being an ickle James... Why shouldn't his misogyny thaw a little over time? He loved Vesper so we know he's capable of the emotion.

Actually you know what would be great? If the love interest left him. Maybe even for another man, a boring normal one, cause Bond is too busy running round fighting master villains to commit.

If that is the case then we will see the long awaited inclusion of Gala Brand? I won't spoil it for those who haven't read Moonraker.

I actually don't think that Skyfall was overtly full of 'character' development, but I would like to see a proper, old fashioned mission.

Yes some fans agree that the old ways are best.

Incidentally, the more I watch Skyfall on DVD I have grown to love it, but it is in no way, shape or form the best Bond. That is quite frankly hyperbolic and ridiculous.

But I am glad it has cemented the future of Bond. But we have had 'gritty' Bond for a while, so let's get back to the fantasy. That is what made Bond last and made him unique.

Funnily enough I don't think the action was the issue in QoS.

A rubbish villain, one of the dullest scripts (I mean how can you mess up with Latin America as your background?), zero wit and humour, but crucially it didn't have any scenes to make it memorable. And that is the main point.

Most of the recent movies haven't had that 007 Moment factor. And by that I mean things that when you see, you go "Wow". Or something we just haven't seen before (or a lot).

From Russia With Love had Rosa Kleb's shoes, 007 getting 'killed' in the maze by garotte, and obviously the famous fight on the train.

Goldfinger had the bit when he pops up in a frogman's outfit and then reveals a tuxedo... the ejector seat... Oddjob's hat.

I'm not going to go through them all, but you get the drift.

What were the iconic moments from CR, QoS and SF?

I'm unsure if there were any at all. And I would also include DAD in that list of recent movies that lacked something. Call it the X factor or je ne sais quoi.

I am sure most of you know what I mean.

Something that tells you right away you are in a Bond movie.

I missed that bit. When did they do that?

I agree that we need now a proper mission. No revenge stories or anyone with a backstory related to anyone at MI6.

Quantum are a good invention as it gives scope for a new array of villains. So let's have either a fiendish Quantum plot or some billionnaire who wants to take over the world by either exploding nukes/starting WWIII or poisoning the population of the Earth. You know, classic Bond plots.

One thing: I hope they stop overusing 'bloody' as much as they did in Skyfall. I realise in America it's not remotely profane so it's more acceptable, but the amount of times it was said was pushing the realms of plausibility! Throw in a couple of 'sodding's at least!


Totally agree at these points. Moneypenny is Moneypenny. I still can see her sitting there behind the desk in Dr. No or FRWL full of hope for something more between her and Bond, but that's it.

I'm really looking forward to see next Bond's girl. But let's be honest, Bond is Bond and any other that "action girl" is not possible (unfortunatelly). But I didn't like Green, sorry there's something about her what I don't buy.

It's like the whole thing was arguing with itself and the result is a weird mix of semi serious psych-drama and other stuff like the car from Goldfinger out of nowhere. It's like the tone couldn't be decided on and just brings everything down. Then they laugh it all off at the end and say oh well, these people are dead but never mind, here's Moneypenny for no reason. Nowhere near the best best 007 movie, I don't care how "amazing" the cinematography is.

Yes I do actually remember that scene and I think I did make that connection to Goldeneye. The Alan Cumming pen. However, I put that down to a throwaway gag, nothing more.

In the Bond universe we've had all sorts of exploding everyday items. My own favourite was the toothpaste plastic explosive in Licence to Kill!

Bad business move though! If you have a massive hit, which Skyfall was, though I do think we had extraneous factors at play (50th anniversary, London 2012, the 4 year wait) which helped inflate its gross, you have to follow it up pretty quickly.

I mean it is not as if Eon make other movies. To quote Bruce Willis in Armageddon (never a wise move I agree) "You're EON (NASA)! You must have a ton of guys in a room just thinking (Bond) shit up!"

I am sure they could get back to the biannual event that Bond was if they put their minds to it. Perhaps the real stumbling block is Daniel Craig? I am sure he will have a shedload of projects in the pipeline already.

Will the next Bond movie be his last? I am not his biggest fan, but I would like him to do 5 and at the very least set it up for the next guy so we can get back to normal, though I do feel Skyfall's ending has done that.

And by normal I mean no more revenge stories or anyone in the mission having some previous connection to 007 or MI6. As Q says in the non-Eon Never Say Never Again "A return to gratuitous sex and violence?"

Why not?

Also, as most of us here know a lot about movies and the history of movies we all know that there is no guarantee that taking time and planning a movie will make it a success. There are many, many classic movies that were thrown together at the last minute and turned out fine. Casablanca is one such example.

 To be honest I always felt like the director's were just for hire and that the producers were calling the shots, and the second unit got the action done. Besides the older ones that had recurring names behind the camera, does it matter?
