...quite a promising trailer... if they don't compromise for the sake of the studio then this could be a great horror movie (remember PROPER horror movies?!?!?!). I've also gotta say that if Raimi is on board in some capacity then this could be pretty awesome. My fingers are crossed. Drag me to Hell was one of the best movies of the last couple of years... come on Raimi... sprinkle some of that on this! :-)

Doesnt look terrible though, i just hate how they show every death in the trailer.

Looks pretty good to me. Even made me feel a bit ill, but then I shouldn't have been eating and watching it at the same time.

Thought the best chance this had was to bring something new to the table while also bringing the grue, but this just looks like a greatest hits and I was bored halfway through the trailer and that's only a minute and a half

 Unfortunately a lot of nasty mutilations didn't make Evil Dead the classic series we have now. No personality at all to be seen, the money should have been spent on a sequel.

Oh, come on now, it's not as if the original Evil Dead was this Hitchcockian flick that relied on psychological horror as opposed to lashings of gore. I mean, it had a demonic rapist tree in it!

Also: you're judging this film on a minute worth of footage.

In Evil Dead, he was just your usual young protagonist in a horror flick. Nothing particularly special, it wasn't until Evil Dead 2 that he became such a cult icon. It's also an argument for why they shouldn't use Ash in a film, if they ever did then every single person would bitch and complain about him not being as good as Bruce Campbell.

Another completely pointless remake. Evil Dead 2 is all you need. As some people have already suggested, taking Bruce Campbell/Ash out of the Evil Dead story is like taking Spiderman out of the Spiderman films. He is the hero of the story. Without him it's just another bunch of kids getting slaughtered in the woods. Ok - there's a few Evil Dead moments that they seem to have included - the chainsaw, the book, the monster POV crawling through the woods and the tree scene, but we all know that it won't be as good as the original, simply because the feel and style of Evil Dead 2 was all part of the fun. I'm sure it will make the hand-rubbing studios a ton of cash. Which is what it's for really.

Isn't that kind of the point of trailers? To make you want to watch it.

Personally I just think it looks like any other horror movie to be honest. That said I think we do look at the Evil Dead series with rose tinted glasses, but the main problem this has is that if you had The Evil Dead films without the Ash character then they would probably only be remembered for being banned once. The Ash character made those films - he was an original, funny character...this looks like a lot of teens getting butchered in fairly bog-standard ways...

I was hoping for something genuinely creepy and funny (think Cabin Fever, Slither etc). Instead this looks like it will just be another experiment in how much we can push bad taste. Thats what the original did; but it did it with panache, originality and fun.

Could be wrong; I suspect I'm not!

Thought the trailer's decent. I'm glad they've not got down a straight up, shot for shot remake route as they've apparently removed all the comedy/slapstick aspects from the original & are going for pure nastiness.

It would be "generic" though. Since it is a remake of a film that put young people in a cabin and then terrorized them. Not seen that since, have we?
