To take part you have to first pick a film, usually the only restrictions on choices are that it has to be available on r2 dvd and more than two years old. If it's a theme round, choices are more restricted, this is the round we'll be doing next and you'd have to pick something pre-60s. You send us the name of the film you want to nominate, email it to hofnominations@gmail.com If you've picked something that's
a. Won a HoF
b. Been nominated in the last year
c. Been chosen already for this round
You'll be asked to pick an alternate.
There's 12 spots in each HoF. Usually there's 3 taken by the three lifetime members (Myself, Rebenectomy and TRM) and four taken by the long-term members (who take part in 4 HoFs in a row) with 5 short-term slots rotating each round. Because this is a theme round, and three of the long-termers have just finished their time, only four slots are taken in advance, meaning there's 8 openings for this round.
Once the deadline for nominations arrives (think it's Dec 18th) we see how many people are interested, if there's more people than slots, we randomly draw the names of who'll take part, to make sure everyone interested has an equal shot at taking part.
After that, it's fairly simple. All 12 people taking part have nominated a film, we give everyone 2 months to watch those 12 films. Once you've watched all 12 you rank them in order of preference and send your list of 12 to the counters. The votes are counted and the 6 films with the highest number of points move on to the second round. Everyone votes again (you still vote even if your film is knocked out in round 1) and this time the top 3 move on to the final. Everyone votes again and the winner takes its place in the Hall of Fame.
The only thing we ask if that everyone taking part watches all the films, if you don't, you can't vote and your film gets removed from the round.

RE: Classic film theme round - 
Keep it as your back-up, you're the only person with a definite place, so if the nominator doesn't make the draw then you can switch back to it. It's happening a lot this round, you're about the fourth person to nominate a film someone else has already taken.
