To answer the original question the remake that will tip me over the edge will be back to the past starring zac efron as marty mcfly who for some reason has to travel to the year 2781 in a time machine built by robin williams

actually it's going to piss me off if they ever get that live action american remake of akira going. I heard Keanu turned it down a while ago

The title 'Back To The Future's already a pun.
I think.


I meant similar to Piranha 3DD, the execs could name it Back to the Past because a) the characters are going back to the past this time, not future. And b) the film is a remake, hence Back to the Past.

Director - Nicholas Winding Refn
Marty McFly - Zac Efron
Doc Brown - Robin Williams
George McFly - Andy Samberg (his Crispin Glover impression is amazing)
Marty's Mum - Alison Brie (because if she was my mother I still would)

Here's a question. Why 2781? And how would you work-in the plot of BTTF with it set so far into the future? Might as well just create a whole new different film.


It's a random year set far in the future. A sci fi time travel film should ideally explore an Earth we haven't seen. The year is 2012 and you don't need to spend hundreds of millions of $ to set a film in the future.
I can't believe people here want a BTTF remake where we go from 2015 to the 80's and back to 2015. What's the point exactly? We all know what 2015 and the 80's looks like, it doesn't excite me.

The plot will be they go to the future. They have their adventure, sightsee, extract humour from setting, visit Marty's family. Yes, his family are long dead. But they're now holograms (it's plausible in 2781). Marty has a crush on his dead mothers hologram, he tries to hook up his mum and dad, they go a futuristic space disco etc etc. They travel back to 2015, sequel bait, end, roll on Oscars.

The AKIRA live action remake has,fortunately,hit a brick-wall.And by all accounts it wont happen

The Keanu Reeves Rumour was attributed to the Anime classic Cowboy Bebop and by all accounts its live action production is still in limbo,limbo since 2009.

also good news about akira being canned but I can still see it happening at some point.

Was it bebop that keanu turned down? I heard it was akira.

With all these western comics being turned to films lately I think it's only a matter of time before anime starts getting piliged

By all account Keanu is still interested in Cowboy Bebop but I pray it doesn't materialize.
AKIRA would get some of my blessing IF it was produced by Otomo himself and was actually set in Asia with Asian actors.

I'd love to see a remake of Air Force One, only this time the entire film would be told from the point of view of the hijacker pilot.

Imagine a film about a man flying a plane, and everything's going fine, but then every now and then something serious but unexplainable happens. For instance, flying along and suddenly the plane starts losing fuel, or suddenly the hanger doors start opening etc.

And then Noel Edmunds with Mr Blobby bursts through the cockpit doors at the end and shouts "Gotcha!"

The effects in The Matrix were revolutionary. What could there possibly be in a remake that could equal the hype or wow-factor of that? What would there be to excite people?

I was worried about the death note movie until I found out they they were set in japan with japanese actors and I found them to be really good.
