I even liked Roland Emmerich's movie (I'm possibly the only one).

I like it too. The film (rightly) gets a lot of flack for the appalling characters and acting, but the scenes with Zilla arriving and storming round the city are excellent.

There's a screenshot from the Godzilla trailer floating about. I'm not sure it's part of the comic con trailer or upcoming trailer. To give a quick summary it look like the city been hit by an earthquake. There are small buildings having small fires, traffic jams and there is an ambalance trying to reeve through stationary cars? What the most important feature in the screenshot is a possible skyscraper appeared to been pushed over and broken in half. People mounting on top either escaping or looking for survivors.

I'm not a fan of disaster movie genre. I hate the fact it's more about wowing the audience instead of making them shitting in their pants. We often see hundreds if not thousands of people being killed in a matter of seconds and we are wowed by the explosions. There are exceptions like Terminator 2 which was pretty nasty. Most like 2012 just never capture the horror or realism. It's going to be interesting to see how Warner bros going to handle Godzilla? I read it's going to be dark and does that mean they going to recreate 9/11 all over the cities. Are Warner Bros going to focus on people suffering, trying to rescue each other and show the emerency services powerless to save many thousands of missing people?

I cant wait for this. I love cheesy creature features and have been a fan of Godzilla since I was a kid. Hell, I even liked Roland Emmerich's movie (I'm possibly the only one).
Looking forward to seeing what Godzilla looks like in this one.

No I like it as well bought it on VHS, DVD and now Blu Ray. Looking forward to a new Godzilla film just a bit worried because I did not like Gareth Edwards Monsters one bit hope he does not mess it up big time.

The producers are being replaced and the script is being rewritten?

http://www.deadline.com/2013/01/godzilla-getting-a-frank-darabont-rewrite-as-legendary-battles-roy-lee-and-dan-lin/

I maybe wrong but this look like creative differences between the director and the producers. I guess the director's pitch to the Legendary board was a big enough success for a change of course just two months before shooting. It's the only explaination in my mind why both the producers are going and the script is being rewritten.

Godzilla 2014 is going to have two additional monsters. I think one meant to be a giant insect.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/BatFreak/news/?a=72392

Also Godzilla 2014 could be delayed by the on going fighting between the producers and Legendary pictures?

Shooting for Godzilla 2014 has already started.

It look like Godzilla will attack Tokyo before making his move on the Americans? The links below meant to be a Japanese airport.

Godzilla 2014 feels like Steven Spelberg's War of the Worlds meets a realistic war movie. It's almost like an realistic attempt of an army invading the United States and the US military are being beaten. The only difference is, it's not grass munching North Koreans or virus prone aliens but instead a huge industructible monster.

The photos shows the US army aren't equiped to deal with a 300 foot tall monster. They haven't got the weaponary and instead have to resort to guns designed to kill people and rockets designed to destroy either buildings or enemy vehicles. They are heavily out match and their front lines are repeatidly being smashed. The apches are their best defence weaponary because they can fly over the terrain and has a clear shot of Godzilla. They packed with a variety of weapons like missiles pods, machine guns and locked on missles. The problem is they are being taken out.

It's nice to see a war movie which involve US small towns and cities being a battle front. Railways being used to transport weapons and vehicles to the front line. Soldiers are preparing for battle or engaging. Humvees and APCs on the roads with burnt out Apches littering around them. There aren't many blockbusters war movies using this amount of realism.

wow, ive been with this project since the very beginning and each day is another day closer to its release date. Im soooo excited!!!! Theres are two things i want to say though about the movie in general; the story MUST revolve around godzilla and NO ONE else! and second, godzilla must be seen as the earths SAVIOUR and its DESTROYER at the same time. He may start out stomping through cities and such but when the REAL bad guy/monster/alien comes onto the scene, godzilla is going to be the only one who can stop them. THIS is what garreth edwards needs to emphazise and focus on to make this movie a huge success its going to be.

I would just love that to be the case. Hope so. I liked the old cartoon with Godzuky or whatever his name was too. The opening was brilliant. They would always get themselves into trouble and lo and behold Godzilla would come up from the depths and kick the shit out of the bad guys.

There is confirmation Godzilla isn't one of a kind and the US military are dealing with multiple monsters. It make me wonder the concept of Godzilla, a giant tortise and a giant hound are official?

The new Godzilla is created by Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster?

The original stories were the monsters were created by the nuclear weapon tests carried out by the Americans. The results were multiple unknown prehistoric creatures were being mutated by the radiation and were causing destruction when they reached Japan mainland.

The new take is rather interesting. I thought they would stick to the source material, explain Godzilla is a constant menace to Japan over the decades and for some reason showed up in America. However this new origin would create some interesting theories what Godzilla originally was and where it came from? I don't think Godzilla was a pet lizard in a town close to meltdown. It more likely a possible sea creature brought to the shore by the Tsunami and was mutated by the melt down.

Legendary Pictures: Godzilla – An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Could be a fake but anyway sounds like Godzilla will be the anti hero and not the main threat to humanity.

I think that's a pretty terrible idea.

Godzilla was always a metaphor for the WW2 nuclear bombing of Japan. Now is it going to be about the perils of having nuclear power plants in earthquake-prone areas? Seems a bit less poignant somehow.

It was bad enough in the 1998 version where they pinned it on French nuclear testing. It really has to be connected to the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

He looks pretty cool! And not as bafflingly humongous as in that poster that surfaced last week. That just looked ridiculous.

Nice to see Godzilla finally getting a pair of gills, but where are his ears? And judging by his baby face, I guess he isn't the movie villian and will be going up against something even more nasty.
