The best theme for a long time. Classic, yet modern, great brass at the beginning and the strings build to a great crescendo at the end. Can't wait to hear this play over Kleinman's titles.

 Bring back Shirley Bassey is what I say.
I want the hairs to stand up on the back of my neck when I hear a Bond theme, and although this comes close (and I appreciate the interweaving of the original theme), then this doesn't do that for me.

I wasn't that impressed when I heard a leaked snippet of it the other day, but hearing it in its full glory I've changed my mind. It's the best Bond theme in a long while, especially when the backing singers kick in, just hope the film is good too!

I think they realise what's cool about the bond movies and themes. That 60's edge. I hope the movie has a bit of a retro feel too.

Instantly impressive and catchy. This tune perfectly evokes the glamour and danger of the Bond series. Beautifully mysterious, langorously lyrical, perhaps one of the most successful Bond theme to date ( since Goldeneye ). This recalls the romance of Dame Shirley Bassey's songs. It just shows how bad and ill-judged that last Jack Black / Alicia Keys collaboration was for most folk. Everything about this film, from the trailers to this theme tune, augurs a classic Bond film ( another Goldfinger / Spy Who Loved Me ). Skyfall promises much and it will deliver. And I just love that opening line : "This is the end / Hold your breath and count to ten ..."

Just cos shes thrown in a John Barry riff doesnt stop it from being on of the most boring bond songs in a long time. Am actually pining for Jack Black and thats saying a lot...

Normally I avoid judging songs on first listen so when I heard a short snippet the other day and didn't like it at all I assumed I'd need to hear the full thing before judging. Now I have. And it still ain't doing it for me at all. Hopefully its a grower, because this just seems dull, particularly when compared to 'You Know My Name' from Casino Royale, Then again, it can't be any worse than some of the modern Bond Themes (I'm looking at you Madonna.)

 I don't mind it too much, better than Jack White/Alicia Keyes one at any rate. It's got the JB theme throughout (which I like), but it's the way she sings Skyfalls, Crumbles and Tall - what the deuce man?!

I'm not a hater, but that's weak. No drama, no emotion and no soul. Adele has such an amazing voice and she's using about a third of her range. Is this the same woman who sang 'Rolling in the Deep'? It doesn't sound like it. Yes, it sounds like Connery-era Bond, but that makes it sound like they've run out of ideas. Or maybe even parody. If the lyrics were naughty it would work in an Austin Powers movie. I was really hoping for something new. I'm disappointed by the formulaic approach. Also disappointed by the brown-nosing on this page. Say what you really think, people. It's boring and you know it. Don't like it just because you like Bond. He's old enough to withstand the criticism. Movie looks great, though. Doing the IMAX on that one, for sure.

Anyone else think that the chorus third line sounds really odd?
The quick rise up and jump down the octave. It sounds like my aunt pissed at a wedding singing. And yes, the token - let's crowbar in the Bond chromatic section is just getting so dull. Underwhelmed..

While this latest theme song is trying to emulate the feel and tone of Bassey, to me it seems caught somewhere between those great early Bond tunes and the musical drivel we got around the time of For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy.

When Casino Royale was released we had a more rugged and brutal portrayal of Bond, and a harder edged theme song in You Know My Name to go with it, followed in largely the same vein with Another Way to Die. These songs were at least like an extension of the adrenaline rush that came with the action before and after it.

I guess my point is that the Bond theme songs are just as responsible as the action, the cars, the women and all out adventure in making every man and boy want to be James Bond, and this song doesn't make me feel like James Bond.

Best Bond tune since GoldenEye - which imo is still the best in recent years by a mile. I'm a bit of a classicist when it comes to something like Bond music and this is a nice return to the traditonal Bassey-esque style and away from the more modern takes in recent years which i really didn't like. Adele is the perfect choice, the beginning and the end parts of the song being the stand outs for me.

Really promising stuff for this new Bond which i'm hoping will go some way to making up for the rather lacklustre Quatumn and see more of a return to the quality of Casino :)
