Isn't event Horizon meant to be Pawl WS Anderson's only good film? That might be why I don't like it at all

Scream I really didn't enjoy, there were good bits but it came off as thinking it was cleverer than it was.
Hellraiser didn't get going for me till the puzzle box opened, but when it did it got really good really quickly
American Werewolf in London is all kinds of awesome

I like Scream a lot, not too keen on Hellraiser and I hate Werewolf In London. Paris was better.

Hellraiser is fine but I'm not mad about it. Love American Werewolf (to be honest, I find it hard to dislike anything about John Landis )

The Saw franchise has reached such a putrid state that it's easy to forget just how good the first one actually is. I think I'll watch it soon.

THE EVIL DEAD 1 & 2

Another kinda of cheat. we have both The Orginal Evil dead. and the Evil dead 2. the are basically the same film anyhow.. great splatter, great fun and scary. If I have to choose I think the first one just shades it over the 2nd.. ( soz clownfoot).. but the both are worthy of there number 9 postion.

I agree very much with this, and funnily enough was talking about this with someone the other night, they love Scream but I don't think it stands up well to repeat viewings. Yes it's quite witty and knowing but as a "meta" horror, "Wes Craven's New Nightmare" beats the pants off Scream.

The Evil Dead, Alien, A Nightmare On Elm Street, The Shining - all excellent. I keep meaning to watch A Nightmare Before Christmas at Christmas but I just never get round to it, so this year I'm going to make sure I do.

THE THING

Actually the full title is john Carpenters The Thing. I love this movie and it normally sits pride at the top of my all time fav list..
I actually like the new one Thing, which make a great double bill with this one.. "lets just sit here a little while, see what happens"

You have to be loving the score.

I have no time at all for The Shining, but The Omen and Texas Chainsaw are two of my favourite films. The Thing I now like a lot more than I used to, but the original's the best.

The Burning - One of my favourites of the camp horrors that sprung up around that time period
The Beast with Five Fingers - Great film, even if it's not as good as the story.
From Beyond - Usually neglected in favour of Re-Animator, nice to see it get a mention
28 Days Later - Good, but not one I'd rate this high
In the Mouth of Madness - An often overlooked film, one of Carpenter's best.
The Mist - Not my favourite version of the story, but very good. Until you get to the end.
Salem's Lot - Very creepy
The Blob - Fun
Rec - Amazing
Pontypool - Like it a lot
The Birds - There have been better versions of the story
Cabin in the Woods - Fun, but not the game-changer many called it. And I'm getting a little bored of Whedon these days.
Night of the Living Dead - Superb
The Fly - Prefer the 86.
30 Days of Night - I liked more than I expected to, but it's pretty forgettable
Suspira - Masterpiece
Final Destination - It's fun, but I can never remember which is which.
Event Horizon - Better than it should have been, considering the director
Scream is fun as nostalgia, but I'm not sure it holds up that well.
Hellraiser, now this is a classic.
American Werewolf - So's this.
Saw - Just not a fan. And it's not really about the whore gore-porn stuff. I don't really care about that, pushing the boundaries was always part of horror, that's what places like the Grand Guignol thrived on. I just think it's an interesting idea badly handled.
Evil Dead/Evil Dead 2 - Masterpieces both.
Nightmare Before Christmas - Great fun, wouldn't make a horror list for me though
Alien - Definitely a film that grew on me.
Nightmare on Elm Street - I was probably about 6 when I saw this. It was definitely on its first video release, and they used to take a while after cinema release. Gave me nightmares for weeks.
The Shining - Not as good as it could or should have been.
The Omen - Was never a big fan
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Classic
The Thing - Carpenter's best.
