[Rec] is one of very few found footage movies that don't suck.

PONTYPOOL !!!

I enjoyed this immensely. I great twist on the Zombie theme, only seen it once so a revist is required soon. just to see if it holds up.. it gets very tense..

Honestly...I was kind of underwhelmed by The Birds. It's not completely without merit, but I just felt it was very slow to get going, then it lacked suspense and thrills in key areas. By the end I felt really unsatisfied. Perhaps it was also a victim of expectation with it always appearing high up on 'Top 100' lists etc. Personally, I just think it's one of Hitchcock's weaker films. But hey, that's just me!

It's not just you. I've always felt that The Birds was one of Hitchcock's failures. Along with Marnie, it's my least favourite Hitchcock film.

It's certainly not in my top 10 Hitchcock films but it has some scenes that rival anything else he did. The climbing frame scene scared the hell out of me when I first saw it.

The Birds is one of my favourite Hitchcocks, and as a horror it's much better than Psycho.

Cabin in the Woods is the most fun I've had in a cinema for a long time.

The Fly ( 1958 & 1986 )

todays choices. is a double whammy,a slight cheat. I love both versions of The Fly. the orginal 1958 is abit of classic noir horror/ 1986 is a fullon horror hardcore growtesque version of the movie.

Night of the Living Dead is good, but I prefer Dawn.
The '86 Fly is a masterpiece, not seen the '58 version.

Much prefer the original Fly to Cronenberg's version.

Have to agree with Gimli. I much prefer the 1958 version.

Love 30 Days Of Night. A good old-fashioned gritty, brutal and relentless vamp flick. I remember seeing it in the cinema and gawking at the fact it wasn't an 18. It's just a shame about the ending, which is a bit silly.

My opinion of Suspiria is identical to yours - Deep Red is a better film, although Suspiria has some marvellous visuals.

30 Days of Night is great - it was really refreshing to see a vampire movie that was actually scary after vampires had been watered down by the likes of Twilight. Danny Huston in particular is an intimidating presence as the lead vampire.

Event Horizon's a good film - very creepy, atmospheric opening hour although the ending lets it down slightly.
