I'm the opposite, I can't separate the art from the person so tend to give Polanski's film the widest berth possible. I'm conflicted with Chinatown though because that's the only Polanski film I'd seen before I found out about his child raping tendencies and it was/is a film I like very much so my conviction probably isn't as strong as I'd like. I am the same. I will not watch Polanski films as a moral matter. I enjoyed Chinatown but cannot bring myself to watch it again as I do not want to feel I am in anyway supporting such an awful human being. I can understand that people can separate it but at the same time I am in some ways disappointed in the actors who have worked with him, I do not want to be just end up feeling that way.

Beat me to it - I just read about this on the BBC site! Unintentionally fucking hilarious goof from the beeb.

I guess an episode of The Tweenies from 11-12 years ago was easy to forget about in the great Savile memory whitewash, but I bet they won't be showing that one again!

 There was an episode of Eggheads about a month ago when they were chatting to one of the contestants, who merrily revealed that he'd been on Jim'll Fix It as a child, and for a good couple of minutes they were happily talking about his experiences on the show.

So, yeah, sometimes things slip through the net.

I recently found out my stepsister and a couple of her friends met Savile when they were young, and sat on his knee for a photo. Apparently the revelations actually freaked them out a little bit.

 Worth reiterating that whatever the exact nature of DLT's crime(s) turns out to be, several people other than DLT himself have gone on record to say that children were not involved.

All reports so far seem to suggest that this case is one of "general" sexual harrassment/abuse of, presumably, an adult female(s), and is merely loosely related to the Saville case in the widest terms of "other questionable sex naughtiness that went on in the BBC in the 70s and 80s".

So not yet officially named him but the name has leaked. I think this one is probably one of the biggest surprises as a suspect (and that is all he is at the moment as are pretty much all of those named as none have been convicted). If a conviction does take place I think this one will probably be one of the hardest hitting.

 I read an article siting the questioning of an 84yo Australian entertainer being questioned at least a month ago and assumed Rolf, but never heard anything more so assumed it was tenuous, but if they have finally gone public I imagine that they must feel there's something worth taking further. I must admit to feeling quite sad about this one, funny how others just don't muster the same reaction. Though as with all the others, innocent until proven otherwise.

Edit, just seen above post. I imagine though, very little gets leaked that the powers that be don't want out there.

Look at what Roman Polanski did (absolutely awful if you read the transcripts) and he still gets big names falling over themselves to work with him. Personally I refuse to watch any of his films since I found out what a vile individual he is which is a shame as some of his older stuff is quite good but morally I cannot justify it and it feels like supporting him. So essentially art and the artist are often separate in peoples minds. Also as said there is yet to be a conviction for any alleged crime.

Oh yeah, actually, I'll rephrase that, I'm nto bothered if it is worth fuck all, I'd rather not have it hanging on a wall if he has indeed been noncing.
A lad in the office actually just said he met him when he was at Uni, Rolf was doing the union tours - singing etc - and he said he was a right letch with the young girls at the bar at the end, not that any of them were underage, but still he had a reputation as being a bit of a ladies man, despite being 70 at the time, and probably incapable of getting his digeridoo up.

I said weeks ago this was the reason why they should stop naming names in this - at least until they've gotten some actual results to suggest the accusations are valid. The name was leaked back when he was first interviewed, and a bit more widely after the arrest - a bit under the radar, and then withdrawn. But, apparently, the Sun decided today it wanted the kudos for telling everyone and put it up on their website. The Scum are well-named.

 Also no one has said (as far as I've read) that he is a nonce - these allegations could "just" be about sexual harrassment of adult women within the BBC at the time, couldn't they? (if true)
