 Lady Gaga doesn't actually have a particularly long list of good songs - she's been compared to Madonna but absolutely gets toasted by her in terms of tunes. Poker Face is good, Alejandro is a good tune but basically a rip off. Apart from that there's a lot of mediocre work. If you take her admittedly highly creative fashion side out of the equation she becomes far less interesting.

So Madonna absolutely toasts her if you compare hits from her first two albums - Holiday, Borderline, Material Girl, Like a Virgin, Into The Groove - all superior to anything Gaga has done.

But it's all subjective - some people will no doubt prefer Gaga's because they have no taste whatsoever

Saying Gaga is crap because she doesn't bear comparison to Madonna isn't really fair though, because neither does Perry. Nobody does. Like A Prayer and Ray Of Light are as close to perfect as pop albums get.

To be honest I think if Gaga looked like Perry, and vice versa, this would have been a very different conversation.

I think Perry's songs are catchier personally as pop songs go if we take looks out of it. I quite fancy Lady Gaga truth be told though - Perry's hotter but Gaga's by no means unattractive :

 Gaga is amazing. Madonna is amazing. I don't have to choose which is "better" or whatever, because as a sensible human being I can enjoy both. Comparing the two is premature, as Gaga is on album 2 (or three, depending on how you see The Fame Monster) and Madonna is at the endish of her career.
