Has anyone made one? Or would being involved in a 100hr+ horror experience be too much for punters?

I'd say Dead Island can be classed as horror at times with some RPG elements. You choose your character and build on certain skills as you level up. It has action at times but so far for me (only started it recently) using club weapons and going round the buildings can be quite jumpy.

You could have an RPG based in an apocolyptically fucked up world where demons or the like have taken over and the dead have risen for example, or an alien invasion one.

Also Planescape: Torment has horror elements.

Mmmm, alot of quare monsters are in Fallout 3 so you could just play that. Zombies would get boring after 50 hours surely, to be fair anything would be past the point of horror after that time.

I played this adult-oriented MMORPG for a while.  Initially it was great fun, but it seriously lacked longer-term appeal, which eventually contributed to its demise as an online game.  Basically, the plot was just as described by Fluke - a gate to hell swung open in London, out of which poured armies of demons.  Humanity shelters in the tube stations as the streets belong to the demons.

And it was deathly dull.

This is a shame - exactly the kind of premise that would interest me, hiding out in the tube and whatnot. That would be brilliant to play a London based RPG with real locations like Fallout used in DC for example.

You may still have a chance - as far as I know the Korean firm that bought the intellectual copyright when the developers went under are working on a global relaunch.  They'd kept the servers running in Korea and have developed Hellgate: Ressurection and Hellgate: Eternity, both of which got a beta test on US servers last year.  Watch this space!

They aren't really horror I guess, but both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are terrifying!

Dead Island I guess, but it runs out of steam pretty quickly
