I thought it was excellent, one of my favourite films last year. If it doesn't get a sequel, it would be a shame.

Saw it. Loved it. Sorry for not having faith. I'd hate to bring another film into discussion, but DREDD got right what everything in EXPENDABLES had wrong. I also like how the film itself is more a "life in the day of..."

Depends how it does on DvD and Blu ray cause it didn't do to well in the cinema sadly. Plus i can see the studio asking them if they did a sequel to a more kids friendly sadly to make money. One of my biggest surprises last year with Karl Urban awesome as Dredd and Lena Headly given us one of the best villians in many a year plus one of the downbeat endings in action comic book film. The action is some of the most gruesome i've seen. It deserves a sequel that doesn't change a thing in terms of violence but i can't see it sadly just enjoy this great film and the fact it gets rid of that awful sly stallone version from the memory.

Watched this again tonight after exchanging the blu ray for the dvd from Play. The picture problems are less apparent with the lower resolution and upscaled through my PS3 looks good enough.

Still an awesome film. Its perfectly paced with some fine hard hitting action and and solid performances from the cast. The score is pretty cool and unlike a lot of hollywood blockbusters, its doesnt outstay its welcome with a slender running time free of pointless subplots.

This film will be as highly regarded as the likes of Blade Runner, and Carpenters The Thing in a few years time.A great cult movie.

Having now read America and The Pit, I am not sure why anyone would want a boring old Dark Judges movie. They are such dull characters compared to the rich layers found in some of the other Dredd stuff.

Visually exciting though. I guess that's the thing, imagine the make up effects. Plus they need a reason to get Anderson back in.

After just reading / re-reading a few things, including the Apocalypse War I think they should definitely feature Walter the Wobot in a follow up movie

Erm...

Just for the record I did enjoy it, certainly very interesting visually. But the above is a rather bold and over-generous prediction methinks.

Death is like the Joker, he's Dredds most recognizable villain, so naturally people want to see him onscreen

I agree though, the America story is probably the best in the Dredd series. But check out the Cursed Earth series, which I think would have been a great story for a sequel. Dredds sheer bloody mindedness in saving his city is what makes it

Wow, That's a bold statement. I honestly don't think so, I don't think it will even be regarded as a good film in 5 years.

I found it boring to be honest. Nothing groundbreaking at all. In fact I don't think I'd bother watching it again. It passed the time, it was nice and short, the slo-mo drug idea was good, I liked the psychic partner (more could have made of that) but, if I dare make a comparison to The Raid, it wasn't half the film that was.
I do have a comic book reading Dredd fanatic friend though, and he said it was as close to being a prefect "film of a comic book" as you could get. I must be missing something.

The Raid was nimble, light on its feet and zipped along at a cracking pace. Dredd was a bit sluggish.

Having said that, though, I wasn't bored by Dredd.

The Raid was great but made me tired of things by the end because the pacing was all over the place, they didn't structure a build up and pay off properly. That said, this unwarranted comparison really needs to stop.

As for Dredd it's a great adaptation of one of my favourite characters. It's not destined to become a classic like Blade Runner which is still marvelled at for it's multi-layered story and amazing set piece designs. The movies you mentioned are cinematic benchmarks regardless of box office performance at the time of their release. This is simply a good time.

It's got no where else to go but to gather a cult following though, even if it's probably just going to be among comic fans. The stupid thing is nobody saw it, but at the same time people are bemoaning the 12a rating of the latest Die Hard elsewhere. Why complain when that's what you voted for?

I loved it. I wish a lot of comic book movies were as violent as this. Loved the "grainy" effect too.

I don't know how it'd fit into the gritty realism of the first film if there were to be a sequel, or if the Dark Judges were to make an appearance, obviously thats a big 'if'. I would rather we opened the canvas a bit, and have Dredd go on a merry chase through Cursed Earth!

Well most of the drama surrounding the undercover Judges and the SJS corruption would cost nothing but good writing. The last stand at the end is the only big money moment I can think of off hand... and I think if it was ever going to happen they could lose some of the grit and throw in some gunships surely
Cursed Earth though, I think that fixes this afternoon's reading...

I saw Dredd at the cinema. Great action sequences and really intense at times. I would probably call it one of the top Action films that I saw in 2012, along with The Raid and The Dark Knight Rises.

Like it.Very much like the classic Dredd images from the time i was reading Dredd comics during the 80s.

Id love to see a comic book adaptation of the film drawn by Carlos Ezquerra.Hes the definitive Dredd artist in my opinion.
