Despite the fact that Joss started writing for shows he didn't create.....

Joss has never wrote an episode for a TV show he hasn't created since he wrote Toy Story.

Maybe not but he did direct an episode of Glee and a couple of episodes of the US version of The Office. Not excatly sure what your point is anyway.

My point is that he hasn't wrote an episode for a TV show he hasn't created since he wrote Toy Story. Shifty said he did, my response was he didn't.

No he said that Whedon started out writing for shows he didn't create. He didn't say he was now doing so but that's bye the bye. Your assertion that Whedon doesn't work on anything he didn't create is patently false.

Especially as I don't think Joss Whedon created Roseanne:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0688756/

................. never before did I think I'd play the Roseanne card in a thread about the Avengers/S.H.I.E.L.D.

No I bloody didn't!

YOU brought up Toy Story to counteract my original point which was started out writing tv shows. Started out as in, before he wrote Toy Story.

Also- Toy Story wasn't the first thing he ever wrote!

Not sure what vad3r is getting in such a huff about, does it really matter whether it's an original creation or not? Whedon is Whedon.

No I did not, my friend. I said he started out writing for other people's shows like Roseanne and Parenthood so it is not out of the ordinary for him. I never mentioned Toy Story or that he wrote for someone else's show since that film, that was you not reading my post properly.

'started out writing' (which wasn't your original quote) and 'started writing' have completely different meanings. Anyway confusion over, let's move on.

quote:

He also writes comic books created by other people but that's not the same thing, is it?

Well he created Astonishing X-Men, Buffy, Angel, Serenity and wrote for them. I believe the only comic (bar some intros) he wrote for which he didn't create was Runaways. The original creator left after the first volume and Whedon took over the second.

Nope Brain K. Vaughn worked on Runaways for the first 7 volumes, and Joss wrote vol.8 and then left for someone else to take over.

Ok, you are correct, my original quote was-

quote:

Despite the fact that Joss started writing for shows he didn't create.....

But what else did I mean? He did start by writing for shows he didn't create. Did you think I meant he just started writing shows other people created for fun rather than professionally? He had a day off one day and just started writing....no, I have no clue what you meant.

You changed the meaning to suit your own argument by throwing Toy Story into it but yes, let's just leave it there.

quote:

The human race can be argued, but he's the saviour of Whedonites at least. Which you, Zaph, Cynic (what happened to him??), me and others are.

I admire him and like his work but I and not a religious person, so he isn't my saviour, I'm afraid.

He's basically overseeing most of Phase 2. He won't have any input in iron Man 3 but he may have a little bit in Thor 2, Will most certainly have a lot of input in Cap 2 and Guardians of The Galaxy. With the SHIELD series? Probably write and direct the pilot episode, then hand it off to a bunch of his co-workers as he goes on to work on Avengers 2.

Saying he won't have anything to do with this is fucking ridiculous.

He didn't really create Astonishing X-Men. Marvel creates new titles/prefixes for the Avengers and X-Men constantly. Astonishing X-Men followed Grant Morrison's New X-Men. And the whole thing featured characters created by other people and was based on four decades of already established history and continuity.

I genuinely want to know what Vad3r makes of this.

Also, going by that interview Joss seems to enjoy polishing up scripts, he's done it for years

So... it's currently filming at the moment and speculation is flying about who will appear.

Thus far, what we know is that the show/pilot will be set in the aftermath of the New York battle and focus on Chloe Bennet's superhero-obsessed Skye, Iain De Caestecker as techy Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as scientific whizzkid Simmons and Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May.

And of course, Agent Coulson. Somehow.

After rewatching The Avengers at the weekend (and it's 'short' Item 47), I'm hoping we also see Agent Sitwell and Titus Welliver's Agent Blake.

However, I'd really like to see more of Cobie Smulder's Maria Hill, who recently said there's a good chance she'll appear.

Tut, what does Weadon know about TV series anyway

*Remembers ‘Angel’, ‘Firefly’, ‘Buffy’ and conveniently ignores Dolls House*

SOLD!!

Actually If Weadon can somehow work the Crew of Firefly into the SHEILD series I’d  have him elected as Emperor of the World

If it's a hit, which I'm sure it will be, it'll be a good way of introducing lesser known heroes/villains that would never have a chance of appearing in a feature film. Kind of like what Arrow has done with Deadshot and Huntress.

Perhaps we'd see Coulson and co. take on Tim Blake Nelson's Samuel Sterns/The Leader who was 'created' at the end of The Incredible Hulk.

It would be cool to see Lizzy Caplan andJesse Bradford's characters as well. I though that Item 47 made for a nice little mini pilot thingy for the show. Caplan may have ruled out a regular role but it would b nice to see her again in a guest appearance or two.

If Mr Whedon has any input, I'd like to think he would throw some work at so many of those great actors from Firefly / Angel / Buffy and, yes, Dollhouse that we haven't seen too often on our screens recently...
