I should think $28m is probably better than they expected + nowdays China's just as big a market for Sci-Fi as shown by Pacific Rim.

i wonder if Thor will beat MOS? (660m) itd be pretty galling for DC/WBros for a Thor movie to beat Superman in the same year

Gravity now at 515m (kind of box office/reviews Fox were probably expecting Prometheus to do)

'gravity'-the film that almost did not get made and a lot of female a listers turned down.

Well its not the kind of movie normally near the top of these lists. It was a wannabe Oscar contender starring everyone's favourite current darling. The makers thought it was a dead cert, they were wrong! Just like that Diana movie. Its refreshing in that its not some mega budget movie.

I think its refreshing that mega budget trash like John Carter, Battleship, and RIPD are huge flops because it shows that despite evidence to the contrary ( Transformers trilogy ) , audiences do actually have taste.

b c's star power was not enough to get punters in to see '5th estate'.
maybe it should have been a h b o movie instead.
