 I have to say that at the time of the flick's release, Walter Hill was quite upfront about Last Man Standing being a remake of A Fistful of Dollars. Not really a "Stealth Remake", if I'm understanding the term correctly.

I quite like Last Man Standing. It's very rare to see a film in which Bruce Willis plays a lead character who isn't as sympathetic as John McClane.

Last Man Standing isn't so much a remake of Yojimbo/A Fistful of Dollars as a straight adaptation of the Dashiel Hammett gangster novel, Red Harvest, which Yojimbo ripped-off in the first place. Miller's Crossing slyly lifts its plot too - smart gangster caught in the middle of a bloody turf war plays the middle against both ends.

My Duesenberg don't like people laughin'...

Someone beat me to the lion king is Hamlet with lions but (now bear with me as I haven't seen it for ages) but isn't the Long Kiss Goodnight basically an adaptation of the Bourne Identity but with a woman?

So the Bourne identity is a remake of the long kiss goodnight

Whoops. That never occurred to me. I like Josh Lucas. After his camp villain turn in Hulk, my money was on him to play The Joker in The Dark Knight. (I believe he auditioned for Harvey Dent.)

Of course, you're right.

It's a BLATANT remake of GF2, but I clearly didn't pick up on the subtleties of the nods to Solaris (or, rather, Solyaris).


I also, genuinely, love Last Man Standing.
