ORIGINAL: jackcarter anyone know if anyone is doing an extras bonus disc for us poor dvd buyers? Not that I'm aware of. If anyone was doing anything extra, it'd be Sainsburys, but not this time. (Their Robin Hood DVD - another Ridley Scott film, of course - had a bonus disc nobody else had, for example.) I believe that the DVD will come with deleted scenes, but not all of them. When the 'alternative beginning and ending' are included, the full set of deleted scenes totals about 37mins, but I heard that maybe only 10mins will be included on the DVD. Don't quote me on that though. I've seen the deleted and extended scenes, but won't spoil anything. I like Prometheus as a film - I think it's good, enjoyable, thought-provoking, but not a great film overall. (With the exceptions of Fassbender, Theron and possibly Elba, I think the acting is poor as well.) My personal opinion is that there's very little in the deleted material that would make the theatrical version notably 'better'. Like most deleted scenes, the material was cut for a reason, and I can see why the Prometheus stuff was jettisoned. Consider Kingdom Of Heaven - IMO a superb film was salvaged from the material omitted from an adequate and compromised theatrical cut. I don't think the same can be said for Prometheus though, especially as Scott did appear to release something he was truly happy with this time. The best I can say is that Prometheus sets the groundwork for more potentially interesting sidetrips through the foundations of the Alien universe. However, I personally don't believe that there's a great film lurking in the deleted material. There is one scene between Idris Elba and Charlize Theron that NEVER should've been cut though!
