Not that I think that a movie has to be 15 to be good. Some of my favourite movies are 12A... but I do hate it when someone comes in *cough*Chuck Norris*cough* and fucks with the movie as intended. As much as I think the first one failed to deliver on its promise, I have no problem believing that this will fail even more.

its not 12a, it's 15. Also in relation to your Mark Kermode 'pretentious snob' remark. The guy's a renowned horror fan (even the trashy ones) and he also gave the Twlight films positive reviews. Just because his opinion is different to yours doesnt make him a pretentious snob.

But again, Nick doesnt tell us whether the action scenes are any better/worse then the first one.One of the few issues i had with EX1 was the use of shaky cam.This is a movie where you go for the action and he doesnt really mention anything about this crucial element.

The Raid, all by itself, completely negates that point - the point apparently being that Empire aren't judging films on merit and the reviewer's opinion of same. You might not realise this, but nearly every review thread in here has someone turning up eventually claiming Empire doesn't get some genre or other, or is too excessively fond of one genre or other and all because they like/don't like a film someone else does/doesn't.

The Raid is also a particularly good example because of the last Expendables thread is anything to go by we have pages of idiocy about Empire not getting action movies to come.

I love it. It's pretty much the Korean Taken, but it's highly enjoyable, and being Korean far more brutal. The early fight scenes are very quick cut (I think it's because the people he's fighting are taken by surprise, so they did it deliberately to do it from their point of view), but it's a great film.

I think the problem with the person who reviewed this actually thought he was going to watch an actual serious movie! He wasn't and someone should of told him! It is a movie which is a toungue in cheek film made in the style of the 80's for the fans, not the critics, so who cares what they think! I say bring on Expendables 3!!!

I stand corrected. I'd heard about the backlash when they announced it was going to be PG13 in the US, and I'd never heard of a PG13 over there being a 15 over here before. Do we have another cut, or is it because the BBFC is stricter when it comes to violence than the MPAA?

I can honestly say I've never even thought of the piece of shit that was Taken in connection with The Man From Nowhere - the quality differential is far far too wide to be breached by superficial plot similarities. Ugh - horrible thought
