The ant lion.

It throws sand at ants until they fall into it's reach then it eats them. It's a cool thing.

Bedroom monkeys. I used to have loads when I was a teenager.

Carpet squirrels. Quite cute but getting rarer nowadays due to the price of laminate flooring coming down.

Bearded Chimney Muggins. Despite the name, they don't appear to have a beard, they don't live in chimneys, but they are closely related to the Muggin, although that is still disputed in some circles.

Are they of the same genus as the Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins?

Yes, they are very closely related, although the Bass-Drum-luggin' Bug-eyed Muggin shares more of it's characteristics.

Another of my favourite weird creatures is the Olympic Frog. It only comes out of hibernation once every 4 years. Spectacularly beautiful, it attracts crowds of millions from all over the world.
However, the night before it goes underground again for another 4 years, you've about had enough of the fucker.

Winnets. Barnacle like creatures that attach themselves to human rump hair. Much like wasps they appear to serve no purpose.

amusingly, I just googled Winnets.
3 results describing them as bits of poo dangling from the hair around your arse, and the 4th result is a cottage for rent in Derbyshire called Winnets
"how was your holiday?" "shit!"

I think the way maggots and grubs can often grow into quite lovely looking insects is pretty cool. Like, how this minging piece of shit:

Can grow into this Golden Tortoise Beetle:

I don't advise a haircut, man. All hairdressers are in the employment of the government. Hairs are your aerials. They pick up signals from the cosmos, and transmit them directly into the brain.

You just have to respect an animal that was apparently named the most fearless animal on earth in the Guinness Book of World Records

I decided to Wiki the Honey Badger to see what they make of it, and this bit stood out:
quote:

Because of the toughness and looseness of their skin, honey badgers are very difficult to kill with dogs. Their skin is hard to penetrate, and its looseness allows them to twist and turn on their attackers when held. The only safe grip on a honey badger is on the back of the neck. The skin is also tough enough to resist several machete blows. The only sure way of killing them quickly is through a blow to the skull with a club or a shot to the head with a gun, as their skin is almost impervious to arrows and spears.

Aren't HoneyBadgers just the right height to bite the average sized man in the gentleman parts when peeved (which as I understand is the usual state of a Honey Badger).

On another note

I watched a programme about Honey Badgers about 10 years ago, and it took a leopard nearly an hour to kill an elderly one-eyed female. Another one decided to take on a puff adder that crossed its path, and in the process of killing it got bitten on the face. It started eating it, then passed out from the venom. About half an hour later it woke up, shook itself and finished off its meal. Honey badgers are harder than a coffin nail.

The zombie apocalypse was bound to come one day, who knew it would start with the Honey Badger.....

I first heard of Honey Badger last year from a girl I met in SA - that (gentleman's region biting) was the first thing she told me they do! I didn't really believe her at first. Such a lovely name for such a ferocious little bugger!

So, in the Honey Badger, have we stumbled upon Chuck Norris' match?

Glass Frog - While their genaral color is green/lime green like most frogs. The abdominal side is transparent. The Internal organs, and gastrointestianl tract are visible through the skin. Pretty cool!

I quite like the star nosed mole too - easy to do an impression of using ya fingers

Vampire squid - I read it's Latin name translates to Vampire Squid from hell. It also squirts out mucus instead of ink!
I'd post a picture if my computer would let me

The Mantis Shrimp. Apparently it can move so fast through the water that it can create a g-force of 10,000G. enough to cause the water in front to boil. And if that wasn't amazing enough, its eyes can see UV, IR and polarised light, and the "punch" from its claws is powerful enough to break aquarium glass.

And it looks incredible!
