We only want to clone it to see how big it is though. Once we know that we don't need it anymore. It only needs to last a few years. When it dies we can feed it to the new Trex.

Have they obtained DNA for anything else?

A wooly rhino, that'd be pretty cool.

There was a species of zebra/horse from Africa that they were considering cloning, I forget what it was called.

That's just another slightly more hairy version of something we already have tho. Dinosaurs are what we need. They could keep them at Alton Towers.

I just wondered if there were any other specimens that had been discovered in a preserved state, other than mammoths?

But we can get that from the perfectly preserved remains of the mosquito. You can find them in lumps of amber. I saw it on a film once. It seemed so beautifully simple. I think they did find a perfectly preserved crocodile that was well extinct. But it was smaller than modern day crocs. Useless !

The problem with cloning dinosaurs is that we've built up this wonderful image of these big, scary, dark scaled beasts of pure terror... how pissed off would you be if they turned out to be bright, primary coloured and as scientists now believe, covered head to tail in feathers?

Terrifying.

I don't know if I should run away from it or feed it breadcrumbs...

Suppose they had big cute bulging crossed eyes floppy tongues and made rather endearing squeaky noises as well.

Looking at that pic no wonder T-Rex's are so pissed off all the time! With those tiny hands they'd find it impossible to crack one off!

I think the oceans need terrifying up a bit, lets make a sea monster. Who do we write to about this? Shouldn't there be a vote. Sea monsters would revolutionise everything in the world, much better than a stupid, ugly, bone density poor Trex who fractures itself everytime it tries to chase me. I want my ocean swims to have legitimate terror, or my beach vaccations to have a bit more panic.

What you have to make sure is that your planet destroyer doesn't have a little port hole that a small manouvreable fighter can fire one shot down causing a chain reaction to kick off...
