Homer, Sandman is a short you might want to look at for your kids. It's at just the edge of creepiness that they seem to love

'They' as in all kids. But it's a lovely take on the story.

Also, as long as the 'creepiness' isn't Brum - which my nephew still seems to have some terror of lurking in the back of his head

Apparently Brum always had a bad man. He did try and watch it through once - as glued to my side as you could get - but it's a non-starter.

It's gone in the book if 'stories to tell his first serious girlfriend'.

Sandman is an honest-to-god masterpiece, one of my favourite shorts.

 I'm glad people are liking The Sandman, let's all hope Homer's creepy children also like it.

Homer, as a kid's rec', if you can track it down then you might want to try them with Flaklypa Grand Prix. If they enjoy Wallace & Gromit then they should really like it.

 90. The Indian Runner



Director: Sean Penn
Year: 1991

Based on Springsteen's classic Highway Patrolman, The Indian Runner, along with Spicoli, is enough to forgive Penn for every idiotic thing he's ever said or done. David Morse and Viggo Mortensen star as Joe and Frank Roberts, two brothers in 60s Nebraska. Joe (Morse) is the more responsible, upright of the two, working as a small-town sheriff. Frank (Mortensen) was always in trouble even before going off to Vietnam, now he's back, his demons control him more and more, bringing the two brothers into conflict. The story is an old one, but it's expertly told, and both Morse and Mortensen turn in intense and brilliant performances. Penn still hasn't directed a better film.

 89. Dust Devil



Director: Richard Stanley
Year: 1993

Wendy (Chelsea Field) is on the run from her abusive husband, while on the road she picks up a hitch-hiker (Robert John Burker) who turns out to be a supernatural killer, The Dust Devil, and becomes his latest target. A complex film that captures a haunting, dream-like feel, inspired by folk tales and feeling as much like a gothic western as a horror, with South African wastelands replacing the Old West. Dust Devil failed to capture the imagination of the public and Stanley's career never really took off, but this is a little masterpiece, one of the best horrors of the 90s.

 88. A Great Day in Harlem



Director: Jean Bach
Year: 1994

A Great Day in Harlem was the name of a famous photo taken in 1958 featuring some of the greatest jazz musicians of all time, from Count Basie to Thelonious Monk, posing together in Harlem. Jean Bach tracks down as many of the surviving musicans as possible in order to get as many stories as possible related to that remarkable day and document just how it was made possible.

 Never heard of ChickenHawk and after watching the first 3 minutes on Youtube (whole thing is there) i wished i still hadn't. That was a creepy 3mins.

Waking Ned: Only seen once on a New Years Eve whilst dying with the worst toothache i've ever had. Seemed okay through the pain.

Orphans is brilliant, I’ve only seen it once though it’s stuck in my head because of a VHS trailer for it that I saw a hundred times. Dust Devil is superb.

 87. Toy Story



Director: John Lasseter
Year: 1995

Despite suffering for me (due to over familiarity) on the most recent rewatch, this tale of an odd couple friendship between two talking toys, a cowboy and a spaceman, remains a landmark piece of animation, with one of the wittiest screenplays of the 90s and a brilliant voice cast, it puts most other western animated films to shame.

Yep it's one of those projects where I too wish the guy the studio hired was left alone.

Toy Story had a fantastic re-watch last year, finished 32nd overall but I hadn't seen it in probably 5/6 years if not more.



I watched Redbreast today, poor Edgar.

Yeah I loved it; Anna Cropper was very good though I wasn't particularly fond of Norah. It’s pleasantly tense and eerie.
