Hi there guys, I'm having a real problem with my new netbook that arrived yesterday.

I have a HP mini 110-3100
Windows 7 starter
Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi adapter
Router is a Zyxel P660HW-T1

Problem is:

My new netbook won't connect to the wireless network. I'm using a WPA-PSK TKIP password, that password is correct but it just won't connect and says: "Windows was unable to connect to Zyxel" attempting to 'troubleshoot problems' does nothing and it suggests turning off the router etc...

When I disable any password the netbook will connect to Wi-Fi but I obviously want to have a password on it. The other three laptops in the house connect very easily to the router as do other mobile devices.

I've tried downloading drivers for the HP mini and I've tried the following (using advice on forums for similar sounding problems): SP46046, SP51392, SP55140 and SP57434.

None of these have worked as yet.

The previous owner of the netbook (I've bought this second hand) says there was never any problems with connectivity.

Can anyone help me?

Have you tried using alternate security such as WPA2 or simple WEP?

only thing I can think of, either that or a faulty wireless adaptor.

have you specifically updated the Wireless adapter's driver?

I've tried using WPA2, I'm not sure how to just use WEP.

I've updated wireless adapter to the most recent one like.

Are you able to connect to the wireless with anything else (mobile phone, for example)?

Yeh all the other 3 laptops, kindle and iphone in the house can connect to this network. I can also connect to my brother's wifi round his house.

It appears that the hp mini is not compatible with WPA according to the official HP forums and I have no idea to make it compatible!

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers UTB, I appreciate you looking but that didn't work.

Even step 1 wouldn't install.
I can't get to Windows 7 Mobility Centre because it's not there on my computer.

I tried to reinstall Windows and go back to Vista on it but it won't even let me do that! I think I'm going to have to send this thing back, it's hopeless.

Instead of vista, have you considered Ubuntu? 12.04 is really pretty and (IMO) is certainly better than vista - If you're just going to be using the 'net and e-mail it's ideal.

It's also ridiculously lightweight as well, I've got it running on a 10 year old pentium 4 with no problems what so ever.

oh and it's free, completely free!
