1) They sell my favourite dish;

2) They deliver within 20 minutes, every time;

3) They give you free prawn crackers, just cos;

4) They use those reusable containers you can store stuff in and microwave and whatnot;

5) They actually have fortune cookies!

Best. Chinese takeaway. Ever.

You have prawn crackers while I have none.

Excuse me while I go yell at my grandmother about this.

My favourite local (we have 4....) does all of this, too

None of my local takeaways deliver, but apart from that I'm lucky that they're as good as they are. Any chicken based curry from my local Indian is melt in the mouth delicious, and the chinese does the best shredded beef I've ever tasted. And free prawn crackers.

They do taste horrible though I didn't have one until about 4 years ago, and I was so disappointed at how bland they tasted and how horrible their texture was.

Its frankly not a massive plus that you are given a gift of horrible tasting food, which you don't eat and then you feel bad about the starving masses.

As we are both lads with local knowledge, of which takeaway do you speak?

We have three where I live, all walking distance from home (so no need for delivery), all pretty good (two of them are VERY good) and they all do roast duck in oyster sauce

None of them do fortune cookies, but we always get something free from one of them cos we've been going there since they opened so we're considered as loyal customers even though we only go there once or twice, tops, a month.

I now have a craving for some Chinese cuisine that goes beyond the usual MSG-related umami desire.  Bastards.

You're wrong. The best Chinese takeaway is the Beijing Chef up the road from me. Amazing food and decent portions. All with the added generous helping of prawn crackers and fortune cookies. I could eat their food every night.

Shanghai? I forget the exact title and I'm not at home now, but it has Shanghai in the title!

There's one on Two Mile Hill which is just called the Shanghai Takeaway.

There's also the Shang Hai in Bedminster (which was amazing, but I've not been there for ages and I understand they no longer have the "high street store" and are just one of those internet/phone delivery only places).

There's also Shanghai Nights in the centre, but as far as I remember they don't do takeaway.

I'm guessing it's none of those...

But does it prevent hunger from hitting back after an hour or so?

Yep, nice. Again, not been there for a few years, though.

On Sunday I was driving back from Hythe (the Kent one) and, whilst I managed a proper breakfast, lunch was nothing more than a packet of crisps and Kit Kat. So by the time we got home and unpacked and put the little 'un to bed, I was fucking famished. So along I popped to The Oriental Sunrise and plumped for Crispy Chilli Beef and Crispy Lamb in Mongolian Sauce (an amazing very sweet and salty sauce - makes your gums retreat from your teeth). Unashamedly demolished both. Should've got some egg fried rice too, but didn't. Like a twat.
