Is there a big feature on it in the mag? The website isn't working for me.

The site keeps falling over. The new mag - presumably out tomorrow - will be dedicated to the list. The front cover is entirely handed over to it.

Cheers. That's quite an interesting list, although a shame to not see any films released since the last one. Great to see Mulholland Drive there.

Some of those entries make one very sad. The intellectual love-in for Godard will forever alienate me. (still, fucking delighted Breathless missed out on the top 10 ).

Pleased by the inclusion of Mulholland Drive (even if it's not my favourite Lynch) & surprised Vertigo has been deemed the greatest - although it's a worthy number 1.

Still, Citizen Kane for me really...

The most likely candidate would almost certainly have been There Will Be Blood.

Anyway, of the whole list, I have seen 28.

Of the top ten:
I have seen 70%
I have 30% in my own top ten
10% is fucking atrocious.

I've only seen 12 overall. I've only seen one of the top 10, which is pretty poor indeed.

2001.....I know, it's tragic!

But I do have Vertigo on DVD so will watch it in the coming week (which is something I've been saying for over a month...)

The biggest problem with this list is the fact every voter only gets ten films. I've read people who take part say that they often want to make sure a director gets into the list so they'll vote for the film they think most likely to get other votes rather than a personal favourite.

I've only seen maybe four or five movies from that list.

I'm such an uncultured fool.

I only have 5 of them in my top 100 and only like about 18 of them. I wouldn't worry about it. Better films to see first

Here's a handy print-out-and-keep checklist that I made for my blog, if you want to keep a record of what you've seen/would like to see.

Yeah, but you're a well known enemy of film. Cahiers keeps your picture on the wall next to Armond White and Michael Bay.

I actually think the worst film on that list is Le Mepris, mainly because it would struggle to make my top 10 Godard. There's a couple of others I'm not a huge fan of, but mostly I thought it was a great list.

Vertigo isn't in my top 10 Hitchcock, that's what's so annoying for me. The best film of all time has a lead actress (whose acting was generally questionable) and a lead actor who, for me, gave one of his most uncomfortable and unconvincing performances. Baffling.

*puts aside time to watch Le Mepris, based solely on rawlinson's anti-recommendation*

How do two people who clearly know nothing about film end up as moderators at a film website? When you throw PA into the mix it begins to seem like becoming a moderator is the Empire equivalent of being given an award just for trying so darn hard.
