You can skip the fourth series.

Beat me! So to speak. Although you could have a look at the birth class one. And some of us don't quite agree with Rawlinson's outright hatred of Sally.

Yeah, that one does have some funny stuff. Especially the far more practical male view of pain relief.

There's really a huge drop-off in quality when you get into the fourth.

177. Inbetweeners
"Girlfriend"

Season One, Episode Four
2008

Is Inbetweeners realistic? The situations are obviously exaggerated, but the feelings seem authentic, as do the friendships between the four leads. Will decides to try and pull Charlotte, one of the most popular girls in the school, bringing himself the unwanted attention of Charlotte's ex, school bully Mark Donovan. Meanwhile, Jay is being mocked over his new "friend"

So Girlfriend doesn't have bus wankers, or Will embarrassing himself on a rollercoaster, or the caravan club, but it does have this

and that's what gets it on the list.

I really like The Inbetweeners. The reputation it has as a laddish program is a bit unfair I think.

When I first saw it I couldn't take to it because it did seem a bit Loaded. It's only when you watch it properly and see that when they pull the laddish stuff it's because they're incredibly insecure, and the fact that they keep undercutting it by showing how pathetic it looks to others in the show, that you see it's really not like that.

176. The Corridor People
"Victim as Birdwatcher"

Series 01, Episode 01
1966

One of the weirdest television shows of the 60s, which says a lot if you're familiar with the telefantasy of the period, Corridor People was part noir, part spy drama, part fantasy and completely odd. In Birdwatcher, the first of the short run of episodes, Syrie Van Epp kidnaps a birdwatcher who also happens to hold a major share in a cosmetics company. If she can get it out of his control, she can get her hands and an important new formula they've developed that incapacitates people. Hot on their trail are Inspectors Blood and Hound from a mysterious government department and Phil Scrotty, a Bogart-esque p.i. With an exceptionally cold-blooded streak that adds real bite to the silliness of the stories, Corridor People is a bizarre overlooked gem.

175. WKRP in Cincinatti
"Turkeys Away"

Season 01, Episode 07
1978

A show I watched endlessly as a kid but have only recently been able to revisit, WKRP is a neglected classic American sitcom set in a struggling radio station. Rightly regarded as the show's finest half hour, Turkeys Away sees bumbling station manager Mr. Carlson decides he wants to make an impact on his workplace by staging one of the greatest live Thanksgiving promotions of all time. I won't spoil the surprise, watch the episode for yourselves, if only for Les Nessman's (Richard Sanders) horror-struck reporting of the great event.

You could have cheated with Corridor People, it is only 4 epis!

Turkeys Away is one of the few epis of WKRP I have saved somewhere. My favourite sequence, though, is still that poor man trying to prove that dexterity gets worse the more you drink - with Dr Johnny Fever as the subject!

Which one is your fave? It's the whole "friend" thing, and Jay's breakdown, that just makes it for me.

Fish Story. Didn't the writer hate that episode so much he did a bit of an Alan Smithee with it?

This is just that part of the WKRP episode Rawlinson is talking above. You don't need to watch it all to be spitting at the screen, although obviously the recommendation would be to do so if you could!

Oh it's still a funny ep, it's just odd how well remembered it is when the writer wrote it when pissed off at the network.

I've only watched all three series the once, but the one that first comes to mind is where they go to university for the day to stay with the sister of the girl that Simon wants to sleep with. I think it's Will and Neil being forced to share a bed and Simon punching his own cock that made it so memorable.

Art imitates life then. Researcher trying to prove something on show, gets opposite result. That's quite funny inofitself!

If you can access Hulu, they have the first season of WKRP.

I just bought the first season - finally! Although I understand the music issues have made it a problematic release for some.

I'm amazed that AMazon allow feedback to be left for US sellers when it's from idiots over here who buy clearly marked Region 1 DVDs and then whine it won't play on their machine.

Yeah, I can understand why they had to substitute the music though, the rights issues must have been a minefield.

Yeah, in some cases it is just weird though. The dvds of Married with Children replace the theme with something that sounds close to Love and Marriage, but isn't. And it makes the credits seem really weird. I think in the case of just one song they should have splashed out for the rights.

Just discovered Sky Arts 2 are showing the TV series of Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. I can't remember when I last saw that!
