 So apparently, while the Dark Knight Trilogy will be out on 5 December, WB are planning an ULTIMATE COLLECTOR'S EDITION for next July.

for those not buying TDKR on blu theres a 2 disc dvd from amazon

 I will probably get the Nolan boxset which contains the three Batman films, Memento, Inception and The Prestige. Unfortunately there is no Insomnia but I have ordered that for just under $10 from amazon US.

Yeah, and there's the tacky plastic cowl box set too.

Rather brilliantly TDKR isn't costing me anything. O2 are offering £5 worth of HMV vouchers back for every £20 spent in-store this week, and I managed to accrue £15 worth this afternoon while doing the Xmas shopping!

Is no-one waiting until next year for the ultimate collectors boxset to be released?

over at batman-on-film website, the main guy who runs the site and who usually doesn't post something until someone involved in the films tells him it's okay has been hinting that the re-released films in the boxset will contain director commentary by Nolan. I'm getting rises on blu ray for xmas but not bothering with any boxset until the ultimate one comes out. I rarely listen to commentaries but i would absolutely listen to ones for begins/knight/rises

I have Begins and TDK already and I'm getting TDKR for Christmas but if Nolan is doing commentary for a boxset next year, I bloody well want to listen to 'em

 Picked up the regular edition of the film on Blu-ray this morning. Was tempted by the steelbook, but uniformity won out in the end.

Not me. I'm waiting for the UE personally. I didn't love the film, just thought it was pretty good, but I do like Nolan's work enough that I'm happy to wait for the possibility of a yak track.

Me personally, I'm not that bothered about the extras (most of the build up to these films online and in magazines covered pretty much everything) - we're unlikely to get a Nolan commentary and I can't see any extended cuts appearing, so other than more featurettes and some snazzy packaging I'm happy to dive in now.

I don't mind double-dipping if it's something worthwhile later down the line. I might feel differently had something amazing been announced, but it's only £15 at the end of the day (which I didn't actually pay in the end anyway - see earlier tweets).

I had the trilogy steel BR boxset preordered on Amazon UK. When I heard WB had an ultimate edition coming in 2013, I cancelled the order! I'll manage with my original DVD releases of BB and TDK until then, cos I wasn't a huge fan of TDKR tbh.
