Mulan deserves to be on the list solely because of its training montage.

I thought Mulan was OK I guess - it didn't even make my Disney longlist.

I just realised I forgot Starewicz along with everything else, but I'd have gone for Insects' Xmas.

Don't like the Metropolis anime.

Mulan I find so utterly forgettable that I couldn't even scribble down one line for it.

How the hell did Kiwi end up so low? Have lots of new people not seen it? It was massively high in the shorts poll.

I know that I hardly ever watch shorts.

A lot of different people voting is part of it, I think. Also, the shorts poll was a lot closer to when the film hit big and everyone was watching it, so it might have been fresher in the mind then.

I take total credit - I'm sure I saw it first and put the link up.

Or am delusional and seeking greatness - one of the two.

Who was it who really hated Kiwi again? Was it Miles?

I thought it must be, because not even Gimli could be that wrong.

Mulan's very good, Kiwi is lovely and I don;t think I voted for Solid Serenade but I really should have,

Does that mean Miles disliking Kiwi is the wrongest anyone on here's ever been?

Well, TRM likes Extremely Loud. That's probably worse.

And you didn't vote for Solid. I was shocked. I actually noticed a few T & J shorts along the way that either would have been higher in the list or actually would have made the list if you'd voted for them

I almost did include the first 110 or so T&Js but there was just too much other stuff I wanted to include. In the end I chose my absolute faves and quite a few random ones. When I did my 500 list I had all but one of the T&Js together, That would have helped here

There's still quite a few in the list. Although nowhere near as many as you voted for.

Well, so far I've seen....

Die Fuhrer's Face - decent.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - can barely remember it.

Mulan - YES!! I know a large portion of this by heart, it was one of my favourites when I was seven or so.

Kiwi - I find it quite upsetting. It's a good short though.

Kiwi is amazing, and Solid Serenade is a decent T&J, but didn't make my list.

I'd never heard of Mind Game, but rawlinson's description made it sound fantastic.

I'm tempted to track it down for the weird poll now.

I haven't seen the majority of the films so far but many have interested me (especially Inspirace and Ocean Waves)

I wasn't a big fan of Ocean Waves, myself. It's okay, but the rare case of a Ghibli movie that disappointed me.

I've got a better review of Mind Game than that but I couldn't get the thread to open for me to grab it.

Inspirace is just lovely, everyone should watch it.

Spongebob is incredible - though the film is nothing compared to the episode when they have the cardboard box and imagination.

Not seen any of the others.

Alma is great and I should have voted for it. The Sand Castle is amazing. Little Norse Prince is crap.

I never understood the love for Charlie Brown
Alma is superb and I'm flattered my blurb got used
The Grinch is wonderful

I found the characterisation very problematic. Essentially we were supposed to be on board with a boy yearning for a bit of a bitch pretty much solely because she was pretty. Which was more shallow US high school than Ghibli.

Mind Game is weird. I should have gone for Pumpkin Patch but I think I went for Xmas Charlie Brown. I like The Fly. Allegro is basically all about sex with a Benny Hill chase added.

I got the book for Phantom Tollbooth for my nephew a while back. can't wait to be able to finally give him a UK copy of the film

SandCastle - lovely

Alma - story feels unoriginal and the whole still doesn't work for me

Grinch - the radio thing is still my favourite telling of the story

Lavatory - is a lovely story

Island - is great

I do prefer the fantasy Ghibli movies, but I always find something to like about their non-fantasy ones, too... except for in this case where I was just not caring through most of it.
It all just seems so beneath them... generic plot, as elab said, the guy just falling for a girl because she's pretty, and even the animation is not at the usual Ghibli standard.
