Which issue does subscription start with?

Apologies for stupid question, but...

Which issue does subscription start with? I have a paper issue of issue 278 and now want to take out an iPad subscription from issue 279. Should it take it out now - before 279 has been released, so my subscription will start with that issue?

Or if I take it out now, will I get 278 as part of that subscription? (which I don't want as I already have it?). Should I wait until 279 has been released?
