I'm sure a SPOILER alert will be needed...

Now that Nolan has completed his trilogy, I have decided that this is my favourite moment from all three films:

Batman's very first appearance from Batman Begins:

I remember feeling 'yes! at last they got Batman right!'. The ferocity, the anger, the fear. Perfect.

What about all of you..?

I haven't seen the new one yet, but I am assuming it will be Anne Hathaway's body in the cat suit.

but does TDKR pass the nolan test?-

http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20610393_20613173,00.html

quite a few nolanisms in this film

my fave moment in the trilogy is the tumbler/bat pod/truck chase in DK.

The Joker with his head stuck out the police car as it's speeding along at night, no sound effects and a very minimalist soundtrack. Just an incredible moment which, for me, is the entire trilogy encapsulated in one small sequence.

Haven't seen DKR so i'll say the big chase sequence in TDK. I thought Batman begins was pretty woeful, so i'd struggle to name one stand out moment in that movie. Fortunately TDK had one, the big chase which i was suprised by how well done it was.

I'm torn between "Wanna see a magic trick?" and the scene where the Joker just stands there, knowing that Batman will swerve to avoid him - goosebumps.

A series full of great moments but this takes it.

Probably this too, or the truck flip for the sheer awesomeness of how it was done.

HIGHLIGHT FOR TDKR SPOILER: When Batman returns and Gordon lights up the bat symbol on the building. I had so many chills...

From Batman Begins there are two for me, the first is a full scene, the whole Arkham Asylum escape. From the moment Batman appears in Arkham, taking down Crane's men, the fear toxin Batman, the back-up, that shot of him gliding down the stairwell and then the reveal of the tumbler and the chase sequence is just so good. It's easily my favourite action sequence from all three films and the Molossus soundtrack just makes it even better. Love it. My second favourtie from Begins is the final rooftop scene with Gordon and Bats. The first time I saw it and after having really enjoyed the whole film I was kinda on a high and the exchange between the two really sets up this great comic book world and the idea of escalation, and then there is the Joker card and Batman dives off the building. It was just a great fucking ending and the reveal of the card was one of my most memorable moments in cinema as there was an audible reaction from the crowd, some gasps and a couple of cheers as people knew we would get Joker in the next movie. That was great.

In The Dark Knight my favourite scene is probably the interrogation room with Batman and Joker, its set up great by Gordon and then the reveal of Batman behind Joker (which really doesnt make any sense!) is just great and then having them chat before Joker starts to reveal the next step of his plan... awesome stuff. My other favourite scene is another Bats vs Joker..... the final exchange between Batman and Joker as Joker hangs upside down at the Pruitt building. I know people dont like Bale's voice during it, but it never bothered me. Batman was pretty much beat, he's worn down and exhausted so t have that breathless quality made sense to me and Jokers madness speech is really great. I also really like the way Nolan spins the camera so on screen Joker is 'upright' as it just makes it look kinda wierd and strange, totally fitting for Jokers last scene.

In Dark Knight Rises I'd say it's the Bane vs Batman fight, probably my second fav of the whole series. Yea, it suffers due to some of Nolans directing/editing choices, and some blows dont look as clear as they do in some other scenes, but that is still a great sequence. I love how it all beings with Batman and Catwoman side by side taking down Bane's men, there is the betrayal and Batmans realisation that he's been led into a trap. The reveal that Bane knows who he is (how he knows is a fucking mystery, but it soudns great!) and then that brutal fist fight, during which Bane has some great dialogue. I loved that Batman is trying his hardest, he's screaming out forcing as much power and energy into his punches, but it's getting him nowhere. Bane tosses him around with ease and when he grabs Batman and pulls him into that iconic pose, well, that was just the icing on the cake. Really, really good. Second favourite was the Batman on Ice scene to start the finale...."Light it up"...... really wish they hadn't ruined that in the trailers.

When adult Bruce enters the cave and is surrounded by bats in Begins.

I like all three films and there's so many great scenes, but that's the one moment for me.

I don't care that it's CGI heavy.

Soooo many... I too adore the interrogation in The Dark Knight, especially when Batman goes to block the door and Gordon sprints over to stop him, showing that although Gordon is willing to cooperate with Batman, he has his limits.

What with it being potentially my favourite trilogy I could just list all of the films but i'll limit myself

Begins:
Finding the League of Shadows hideout
"I'm Batman"
The whole Arkham Asylum scene from "He's here...The Bat-Man!" to escaping outside with Gordon and Rachael

Dark Knight:
The Interrogation between Bats and Joker
Finding out just where the Batpod comes from and the chase that follows
Two Face and Joker in the hospital room.

Dark Knight Rises:
Breaking the Bat
Bruce climbing the pit while the prisoners chant
The whole of the ending, couldnt have ended more perfectly.

Batman Begins - the end with the card. I was already mentally applauding the film for how they'd conceived Batman away from the cartoonish version Schmacher had left us with, and then they pulled *that* trick and I felt like standing up and applauding for real. I love what they and Ledger did with the Joker, but at the time the sheer possibilities of what could happen, who could play him, what they were going to do with him, and the anticipation for it was like nothing else.

The Dark Knight - when the Joker goads the cop into attacking him in the cell. Partly because it shows what a sadistic little bastard he is (the way he sarcastically mimics the cop when he tells him how many of his colleagues he killed is a horrible, evil touch), but mainly because it's the first hint that the Joker has always been in control of the situation and Batman has no idea of how he's going to get the rug pulled out from beneath his feet.

The Dark Knight Rises - I'll need a few more viewings to pick a defining one, but for now I'll go for Bruce's and Alfred's argument in Wayne Manor, specifically the "ever since I heard his cries echo down the corridor" line. Caine made me cry, the bastard.

Way too many to list however one stands out...

In TDK when the Joker first meets with Marconi's men in the now infamous pencil trick scene, there was a moment when I realised I was watching a very very special performance from Ledger..as he is putting forward the plan an hired goon says "He's crazy" The look on Ledgers face, almost a mix of being insulted and trying to hide the fact that the goon is right and he rasps the line "I'm not....I'm......not"

I distinctly remember thinking, "Fuck this is going to be something"

Batman Begins: Spraying Crane with his own fear toxin then his interrogation against the wall

TDK: Batman fighting off goons and ploughing his way through to Maroni in the nightclub

TDKR: Catwoman on the batpod doing that tumbly skiddy turn thing. twice.

Overall favourite scene though is with Bane- their first fight in the dark. We are never convinced Bats can beat this guy from the off. He starts poorly, despite many landed punches and is quickly torn apart. Bane beats the shit out of him, knocking him out with a punch to the head. Batman retreats to the dark after a little "theatricality" and Bane delivers that wonderful monologue as he stalks him in the dark and plucks him out of the shadows. "The shadows betray you Mr Wayne...because they belong to me". He picks him up above his head... HO-LEE -SHIT, hes going to do it!! Breaks his back on his knee, Batman again lets out a defeated cry. Bane walks away with his broken mask.

That fight was brilliant, best of the series.

Batman Begins

  • Batman's first appearance, taking out the goons and the Falcone at the docks. This perfectly captured my idea of how Batman should be portrayed taking down the villains
  • The Tumbler chase across Gotham "He's flying on rooftops!"
  • "Taste of your own medicine doctor?" and Crane's subsequent hallucinogenic interrogation

    The Dark Knight

  • Anytime the Joker held a knife to someone's face. The combination of Ledger's unhinged performance and that note in the score bending slowly upwards helped make the tension unbearable
  • Batman/Joker interrogation "You have nothing, nothing to threaten me with."
  • The emergence of the Batpod

    The Dark Knight Rises

  • Selina Kyle's introduction. Within 30 seconds I knew Anne Hathaway had nailed it
  • Any of Michael Caine's scenes. They made this the most emotionally engaging of the series
  • Batman's first fight with Bane. Brutal and brilliant
  • The end montage

  • When you think about it, this could possibly be the most scary moment of the whole trilogy. You realise that he's right and that there's no way Batman could defeat him (in that moment anyway)

    Batman Begins:
The Arkham Breakout and ensuing Tumbler Chase - pure Batman right there.
Wayne Manor burning and Alfred motivating the almost broken Bruce.
    The ending.

    The Dark Knight
Practically any scene with the Joker, even things as simple as him firing off guns from the back of the 'Slaughter' truck.. Ledger completely nailed the physicality of the character.
The bit where the batpod does that turny-skiddy-thingy-that's-physically-impossible-but-looks-cool.

    The Dark Knight Rises
Selina's reveal - the transition from 'sorry Mr. Wayne' to the sarcastic 'oops' I knew Hathaway had got her down pat.
Batman's re-appearance. Everything from his initial reveal with the lights cutting out, to the chase with every last one of the city's cop cars in pursuit (the cinematography there was beautiful), then the Batpod jump then Batwing (fuck it I'm calling it that) reveal.
First Bats vs. Bane fight - I knew he would survive the ordeal but even then I felt worried.. then Bane lifts him up over his head... big 'oh shit' moment in the audience.
Alfred's scenes with Bruce. I cried.
The final half hours or so - pure entertainment as well as a sentimental yet satisfying and triumphant ending.

Looking back on the trilogy - I love it that the climax/ final showdown always goes down with just Bats and Gordon - with the addition of Catwoman in TDKR - but nonetheless it adds a sense of the bond between the pair, brings the 'now we're two' bit full circle.

    Batman Begins

The docks fight scene - the first time we see Bats all suited and booted, and kicking arse.
The final scene and the Joker card - loved when I first saw that at the cinema.

    The Dark Knight

All of the 'Why so serious?' stories - fantastically acted by Ledger.
The Joker integration scene - again Bale and Ledger were brilliant in that.

    The Dark Knight Rises

Every scene with Bale and Hathaway be it Bats/Catwoman or Wayne/Kyle - me being a perv really
Bane's first scene - completely shows what sort of 'bad-guy' Bane truly is.
Escaping the pit- loved everything about it, acting, script, music

EDIT: Also Caine in TDKR is sublime.
