I think the votes might have to be two parts of Human Condition for the 50s with the last for the 60s. That's how we worked it for Histoire (s) du Cinema on the 80s list, so it's probably going to be the same here. I don't know if TRM feels strongly in the other direction, but that was the way we started things.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other

You're just anxious about HoF.

Any idea when the deadline will be?

I've got the list, but it's not ordered yet, as I may have time to fit some more films in by the deadline.

Why do you need a deadline, just assume its imminent and make your list.

I'm honestly not sure right now, trying to polish up the 70s list now so we can start posting, going for the top 150 again. It depends on how TRM feels, but I'd be ok with a bit of a longer deadline because of the horror list finishing up in a month or so.

Im fine with a longer deadline as it means I dont have to do anything for a while.

What was your question?

Just whether or not you could put the Human Condition trilogy in as one single entity or as two of the three. Which I assume was answered in the post quoted.

The, "sort of..." is just me being snarky.

My other questions weren't answered?

I think I might leave Human Condition out of this one, it makes me feel more comfortable. Which means I'll ask the obvious come the 60s, but I realise I probably won't like the answer there so don't worry

My understanding on Samurai 1-3 is that it was intended as a trilogy when started so should go as one entry. The Apu trilogy however was only intended as one or two with pressure put on for the story to continue, so it should be separate entries.

Can I have Eyes Without A Face? Most film websites have it listed as 1960 but when I watched it recently it said 1959 at the end of the film.

Also, how about Letter Never Sent? Wiki and RT have it as '59 but IMDB have it as 1960.

I haven't seen too much from the 50s so I should have a list of 50 or maybe 75 in by the end of the week.

Isn't that just the date it would have finished filming though? A fair chunk of 1960 films would be the same (and it would similarly move 1950 films back).

Filming on Les Yeux took place in 59, but its premiere was in 60. I think Letter Never Sent was the same deal, filmed in 59 but released in 60.

That's cool. I have no problem chopping them out, just wanted to make sure. So..... er, when's the 60s poll taking place?

What the hell? I always thought The Apartment was '59. This list is getting smaller by the minute.

Nah, Some Like It Hot was 59. Wilder's best, btw.

I always thought Wilder was just having an amazing year. I agree on Some Like It Hot though, Wilder's best and it should feature very highly on my list.

Trying to put a list together is a little harder than I expected. Chuck Jones is showing up more than any other director.

The Hunting Trilogy: one entry or three?

Sent my list.

I'm pretty sure they all fit the decade, but if there's any that were just in the '40s or '60s, just edit the numbers accordingly, bitches.

Since were coming up to the 3 month point since this poll was started, we were wondering how everyone was getting on with making their lists/watching a few final last minute films.

I have just checked and so far we have a list of 100 from Gimli and 59 from Matty, so we could definitely do with a few more

I currently have a shockingly small list of 23, but I have a few more cartoons to add.

Will send it in sometime this week.
