A clumsy title.

So, if a movie marathon constitutes watching all films within a series - Star Wars, Twilight, etc - what would the Ofilmpics constitute?

Maybe something cross-genre, with each genre being a different "sport". It would have to be epic in length. And would maybe have some over-riding connection, which would be tricky. Maybe keep to one country.

Thoughts?

Go.

Olympics is more sports than different countries as the spirit is all unity and stuff - so I'd probably programme it based on as many of the individual sports as possible.

Walk Don't Run - Jim Hutton is a racewalker
Robin Hood (Disney) - archery

etcetc

Satantango - the suffering of an endurance sport mixed with the mind-numbing boredom of bowls.

Not if keeping to sports - both excellent choices.

Hey! None of that. Wark's 'tache alone was worthy of the big screen.

Great Escape is, indeed, good fun. But Gregory's Girl is one of my all-time favourites

Animalympics for Water Polo, though it's mentioned and not actually seen. We should have it for athletics as well.

To fill in some gaps Basketball could be Finding Forrester and Tennis could be Wimbledon. However, as the Olympics represents the best of different nations competing in different genres of sport I would celebrate with two excellent films in the same genre for each 'event' e.g Pretty Woman vs Dirty Dancing, The Shawshank Redemption vs In Cold Blood, Zoolander vs Anchorman etc etc. If I was head of planning I'd exclude all horrors and 'professionals' (films that are now beyond debate like Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars etc) and the winnder would be declared over a good cuppa and a jammy dodger.
