It reads more like a summary of the film with highlights rather than a critique. But it's very well written and definitely one of the best reviews I've read when it comes to prose. And it doesn't give away any spoilers, well done. TDK didn't hit the highs of Begins for me, but since TDK I've eagerly been awaiting a sequel as I always felt the story wasn't finished and needed to be concluded. London BFI IMAX next week, should be special. Hope you guys have a great experience at the cinema, won't come very often.

@mods:

Why don't you lock the thread until the day the movie opens oin theatres? That would prevent most of the "reviewing-the-review" posts.

It is tempting with some, but apparently there has been a showing somewhere since we have one review in the thread.

And, actually, as it's a 5 star review we haven't had the normal bitchfest in this type of thread.

I was under the impression that locking it wouldn't actually do anything, because people posting direct from the review on the website would just subvert that or create a new thread or something.

That sounds familiar - didn't we try to lock one a while back?

Any film over 85 minutes long is bound to be tedious and dull...

That's funny because that's how I now feel about Evil Dead 2 after you mentioned for the 500th time.

Thank you for ruining one of the precious few good things about my life.*

*I'm kidding. You can take that finger off the ban button now.

Entrapment? I didn't bring Evil Dead 2 to this thread, although I'm very glad that Girv did...

I'm glad of this review, it has me interested and safe in the knowledge it's going to be pretty special whilst not giving anything away... perfect!

Roll on 9.30am Friday Manchester IMAX

He Rises with a 5-Star review as well.

Looking forward to this.

The only annoying aspect will be people arguing over which is the better superhero movie this year - Batman or the Avengers

Maybe it's time to make it impossible to reply in review threads until the release date comes. Four pages of reviewing the review/bitching about star ratings for a film as yet almost universally unseen is daft. And makes this part of the site prone to accusations of 'different arseholes, same old shite'.

Note, I'm not calling anybody an arsehole, but this shite is sooooo repetitive.

4 pages already, this has already beaten the Prometheus thread, and no one has even seen the film yet.

You forgot - "people not bothering to read the posts that came before". Where this was discussed and answered

Also, we have one claim to have seen it. First page I think.

Yeah, forgot to mention that...but then I don't come to Empire's website to waste quite so much of my time as it would take to read through four pages of such stuff. Guess I'll just prohibit myself from reading film review threads prior to the release of films, then

Enjoyed the review. I didn't know there was another Batman movie being released.

Tookey's review is up on Daily Mail website ... same whopping 2* rating he gave TDK.

Also, if you want to avoid the most spoilerific review which gives no warning about what it will tell you, avoid the Guardian review! I think I must now know 70% of the films events off that one review!

I had a dream about Christopher Nolan last night. It was a sexy dream.

I totally bet this will be better than The Avengers, that movie was for kids kids compared to the maturity and emotional complexity of Nolan's majestic vision.
