ORIGINAL: flando Poor ol' Empire, I'll bet the consternation and internal conflict of writing a four star review and giving five stars weighed heavy on not only Mr. Pierce but the whole Empire reviews team. All in all, I agree with many other posters on here, it is without doubt one of those reviews which will get the "redux" review and be a 4 star on Blu-Ray/DVD type affair. That being said, the review mentions the unavoidable comparison between Batman Begins, and in particular, The Dark Knight more than a few times, and, I also agree with the reviewer that the bar had been set so high, I think it was impossible to capture the unbridled cinematic achievement that the The Dark Knight was when we finally got to see it. Can't wait to see it, and I would love to come out of the movie with a 5 star rating of my own! Aren't all those posters (ie the couple above) forgetting there isn't a single point for 5 star or for 4 star? Each, given there are only 5 stars, encompass a relatively broad range. So if it was out of 100, then it's maybe around 90% rather than 99%. If all 5 star films had to be absolute perfection there would be virtually none. Either way, you have to remember a ranking system is always completely subjective. The reviewer overall felt it merited 5 stars, irrespective of where they focussed the discussion in the review and, IMO, the review easily supports the rating.
