And our winner by quite a margin is

Congratulations to Impqueen on winning the first Literature HoF.

Also congrats to the runner-up, Rebel, with Island of Dr. Moreau. Two excellent books.

We'll move on to the second HoF as soon as we have enough nominees. There are currently three spots remaining, it's going first come first served. If you want to take part, pm me the name of the book you'd like to nominate.

It's a worthy winner, and the one I most enjoyed discovering over the round. Congrats to Impqueen!

Surprised but pleased for it. Always ncie to read a good book you've never really had the intention of reading.

That is a surprise I thought The Crucible was walking it.

Cool glad folks enjoyed it especially given it's in my personal Top 3.

Thanks guys I've really liked doing this.

I may have had Crucible last, or second last.

Ubik on the other hand was my top choice - hurrah! Brilliant nom Impqueen.

Was Dr Moreau my number two choice? I think so. What a brilliant result all round

Didn't you have, maybe just lying around somewhere, say, a list of favourite books you put together for some unknown reason.....

Well that narrows it down to 20 (not including anything I've read in the last 12 months or so!) I am totally going to redo the Top 100 at some point if enough people want to vote. (I lost the results, twice incredibly).

I've had two broken laptops and a missing memory stick this year - I empathise.

Give Reb first refusal. If you want to close it down quickly after that I'll throw one in

I'm sitting this one out. Will probably still aim to read along, but I have a few things coming up in the next few months that might make a 100% commitment harder to stick by.

Just wanted to ask a quick question, does anyone have a problem using Kindle if need be? I don't have a Kindle myself, but you can download an app from Amazon to read Kindle books on your pc, and there's something I'm considering that's only actually available as a fairly cheap Kindle download. The actual book is out of print and stupidly expensive.

Sorry, but I couldn't read a book on the PC screen. I can't read it on Kindle, and that's got screen adjustments to make it easier.

Unless it's a short story? That would probably be OK in chunks.

If you want, I can step down this one and you could try for a final person to take part? I don't want to stop you being able to choose the book you prefer.

I know it's crap, but I'd get a 3d-esque headache trying to get that much text. The reason I fail at paperless office is I have to print most docs off to read.

No, it's fine, I have about 30 different ideas for a nomination. Ruling out Kindle editions narrows it down. The book I'd most like to nominate seems to be completely out of print and isn't a Kindle edition either.

Rawlinson wants to nominate an obscure thing you can only get on Kindle.

I've just been buying Robert Aickman. Difficult, innit?

Buying Aickman? Aren't the three Faber editions still in print? Before I flew I got the gorgeous new hardback editions of the Karl Edward Wagner stories, 30 quid each.

I wasn't quite sure. But the reviews seemed to suggest the main stories weren't in those 3 volumes,  but I ended up getting one and a couple of the Fontanas.

I was reading the review of one of the Wagner's and it appears that I must have read one of his as it's in the same collection as The Mist. I don't remember it though. DId you shove them all in hand luggage?
