100. Spider-Man (1967)

"Spider-Man, Spider-Man. Does whatever a spider can"

An amazingly naff cartoon but dammit if it hasn't got one of TV's catchiest songs. It should be made law that any and all screen versions of Spiderman use this song, in full, at every available opportunity. It would have made Spiderman 2 soooo much better.

Best bit - Apart from the song, it has to be wave he gives at 0.28 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4o29VoxtsFk

See also - The Amazing Spiderman, the live action show from 1977. Sadly no song, but look at how ace that costume is - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xF7DPsVW8I

Any theme song awesome enough to get covered by The Ramones deserves a place here.

99. The Benny Hill Show

I only have the most vague memories for watching this show when I was younger and I have no idea what I'd think of it if I saw it now. To me, Benny Hill is mainly the man who sang Ernie, The Fastest Milkman in the West (I wonder if I can get that into Rhubarb's music poll?). However, I've always loved the theme tune for the show, the absolutely brilliant Yakety Sax by teh late, great Boots Randolph.

98. Bullseye

"It's a bullseye!"

There won;t be many game shows on this list. There aren't that many that I've seen and even fewer that I like the credits for, but this was always a favourite. Playing darts isn't bad but watching darts is almost as bad as watching football, so why I liked this show puzzles me. Maybe it was Jim Bowen's poor jokes, Tony Green's "One Hundred and Eighty!" or the fact it was always fun when the supposed good darts player messed up. I think though it was possible due to the fact that I wanted a Bendy Bully. Great opening sequence and ace music.

97. Fireball XL5

"I wish I was a spaceman, the fast guy alive"

Perhaps not as well remembered as other Gerry Anderson shows, I always used to love Fireball XL5. A great song and wonderful-ish graphics.

It's not bad, but I can think of 3 better Gerry Anderson intros.

Great idea for a list

Hope to see Pugwall in there and the best intro of all time, Funny Bones ( special big up to James the Cat and the super sad song from Button Moon )

I should say that I am only including intros from shows that I have seen. As such, at least one mentioned so far won't be included.

I subtitled a couple of repeats of Bullseye a few months ago - casual racism was so in vogue back then.

And my friend's wife appeared on it once.

There are certain intros that I loved, but after watching the series 7 or 8 times through, I have grown to kind of hate and skip (X-Files is a big one), but then, there are a couple I have never gotten sick off no matter how many times I watch (Firefly, X-Men: TAS).

96. Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds

"One for one and all for one, Muskehounds are always ready"

My hope is that everyone now has that song stuck in their head for the rest of the day. I rewatched some episode of this a few years back and it hadn't aged as well as I hoped but it still beats most kids shows from today. It's the insanely annoying yet undeniably memorable song that's the reason Dogtanian makes this list.

"Honey, I'm home"

Certainly not the greatest show to feature work from The Jim Henson Comany (The Hoobs, for instance, was way better) I always had a soft spot for the opening titles. Or at least, the first of the opening titles featuring the ominous drumbeats as Earl Sneed makes his way home, scaring other animals as he barges through the jungle. That was ace.

94. The Tudors

The first grown-up show on the list. The Tudors might not be a history teacher's favourite show but the titles are just about as good as any actual episode. Sure, Trevor Morris' ace main theme is a tad out of place but the imagery is a great mood-setter and expresses the concept with ease. The intros changed for each season but S2 is my favourite, helped along by Peter O'Toole's sneering glare at the camera.

93. Mister Ed

"Hello, I'm Mr. Ed"

It's a talking horse introducing his own show. If that doesn't qualify as great I don't know what does!
