The latest incarnation owes a heavy debt to The Matrix and Blade Runner, which were a massive influence on its visual style.

That said, if this is handled correctly, it could be quite an epic piece of cinema.

Deux Ex: Human Revolution is about biomechanical augmentation, not nanotech. Nonetheless, there's a couple of great films to be made from the franchise. I'm amazed it's something that hasn't been explored more in film as it's very tangible. Unfortunately this isn't going to happen and it'll probably turn out to be some superficial, vacuous nonsense.

It was inspired heavily by the Renaissance.

Most of the Renaissance details were dropped in the concept stages. To be honest I don't see the point in adapting a game which was firstly fun because of the choice system and the alternate play throughs you could do, but secondly one that is already so heavily film influenced. The main thing they could do with the screen version is include way more of the kind of thing the promotional videos showed - the hard reality of neoropozyne withdrawal and anti corporation riots.
