Following several brilliant poster competitions here we have finally persuaded a fully fledged UK film distributor (Metrodome Distribution) to let you create the official poster/artwork for their upcoming horror THE DEVIL'S BUSINESS. So we have an actual brief from the Metrodome product manager just like would be given to their creative agencies... and two weeks to create an iconic poster! Good luck...

Image download link to copy and paste:
ukpress.waytoblue.com/distribution/uk/metrodome/devilsbusiness/Images.zip

  About the film:
Two hit men are sent to murder an old associate of their underworld boss. Breaking into the victim's house, they sit and wait for him to return home - but when they discover a black magic altar and a shocking sacrifice, they find themselves immersed in the world of Satanism with with no hope of return...

  Genre:
Supernatural horror / thriller

Press release download link to copy and paste:
ukpress.waytoblue.com/distribution/uk/metrodome/devilsbusiness/TheDevilsBusiness_PressRelease.zip

Similar titles:
Kill List, The Wicker Man, Down Terrace

  Brief:
We'd like you to use your creative talents and design an official poster for the release. This is supernatural horror with a cool, slick, gangster edge. Think Kill List as your closest comparable film-wise, but all ideas will be considered.

  Possible Quotes for the poster:
"A return to the Hammer days when horror wasn’t afraid to hold your gaze and send a shiver of fear down your spine" - Ben Wheatley, director of Kill List

  "Pinter-esque, character-driven, genre-crunching horror" - Damon Wise, Empire Online

  Prize:
The ultimate winner will be picked by Metrodome, and as well the glory and a full credit when the story around the poster competition runs, they will get copies of the poster, full credit, a Metrodome horror DVD pack... plus a copy of The Devil's Business DVD when it comes out in September. http://www.thehorrorfilmcollection.com/

Size:
Please upload a lo-res version to view but have a hi-res one to hand if you win...

  Deadline:
As the film is in cinemas August 17th we would like to pick a winner within two weeks from launch today. So please post your piece before 12pm on 23rd July to be considered. Good luck!

I took my inspiration from Olly Moss, one of my favourite artists. Hope you like enjoy. I will hopefully be uploading some more designs shortly as this is one of my rough ideas that i think works quite well.

Went for a more graphic/comic illustration style.
Created both in traditional and digital media.

Hey Helen! Do you have an approximate size we should be working to for the poster (obviously post a smaller, low-res one on here)?

Ta muchly x

I've been told, “One-sheet, portrait style is best overall... roughly 27" x 41"

So will landscape versions be considered or is it strictly portrait?

Not to answer for Helen but I would imagine it would be safer to work in portrait as your work will then also be applicable to the DVD cover...

On a side note - not to try and be 'guardian of the poster threads' or anything but I'd also recommend to all submitters that your posters be no bigger than the viewable area of your browser - if you need to scroll down to see all of it, you can't take in the composition and aren't doing your work justice.

Good stuff Tommy, not sure if you're looking somewhere else though, but IMDB says it's an 18...
