My documentary catalogue is sadly lacking, but it might spur me on to watch a few more. I'm in for a wee list at least.

That's mainly my motivation behind it - I have a whole list I've been planning to watch.

Yeah, I reckon I'll pull a top ten together if nothing else.

Not seen, but according to Wikipedia it won a Best Documentary award and a Best Experimental Documentary award, so I assume it counts. However, as I haven't seen it, I'm not sure.

I'd be worried how much some people might believe from My Winnipeg. The horses always freaked me out.

That 'If' day was true was astonishing

Probably a stupid question, but Culloden and The War Game would be ruled out under the mockumentary rule? I am putting the list together in bits, not just throwing random questions at you. Also, Histoire (s) du Cinema, can that be one entry?

The War Game and Culloden - I'd like to say that they count (The War Game did win Best Documentary).

Histoire(s) du cinéma - that counts as one entry.

I think the Watkins comes under the query above too - it's part of the BFI's analysis of docu-dramas, although there is probably a line where that genre crosses too much to a created drama. The old school ones like Watkins don't do that, I think?

Sent you a list earlier, can you let me know if it's all cool or if you need me to change anything?

Awesome - seems like a pretty good list - Number 7 in particular.

That was actually one I was worried you might not accept. I just realised I think I forgot an important one.

Touching The Void for me too, also The Ascent of Man and Cosmos and also the Horizon episode on the proof of Fermat's Last Theorem was a fabulous watch.

Just as a bump, Kevin Macdonald's One Day in September, about the 1972 Munich Olympics, will be on Wednesday 12th, 23:20 (as well as hopefully being on iPlayer).

I'm pretty sure I have a long-list for this somewhere, so I'll get a final one in pretty sharpish.

I might participate in this poll, but I'll definitely need to see some more docos beforehand; specifically Man On Wire and Hoop Dreams which I've been meaning to see for years now.

I'd really recommend Man on Wire; t's one of the most accessible documentaries I've seen, in that it's not a contraversial topic, or trying to push a point. It's just such a good story, really well told and there's some great footage too.

Watched 6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park the other day. Highly recommended. The workload Trey and Matt have is ridiculous.

The finest music documentary I've ever seen - Martin Scorsese's The Last Waltz.

And the greatest sporting documentary of all time - Leni Riefenstahl's Olympia.

Is Kairostami's Close-Up eligible?

Well, I've not seen it, but it sounds like a documentary, so I'll say it counts (unless someone who has seen it completely disagrees).

Just saw The Times Of Harvey Milk (1984) and it was excellent. I think I may have preferred it to Van Sant's film Milk, but I need to rewatch that to be sure.

Anyone seen this new Morgan Spurlock documentary:

Watched it today, pretty interesting if you're into that culture.

One of my favourite documentaries, Man on Wire, is on BBC Four tomorrow evening at 9pm (as well as then being on iPlayer). If you haven't seen it, I'd really recommend it.

Watched it the other day and loved it! I found it on Youtube as well as a heap of other really great documentaries.
