Anybody done this?

I used to have a Win 8 and win 7 dual boot, but never used win 8, thought I'd add some variety and install ubuntu.

steps taken

removed Win 8 by taking out the boot option in win 7, then deleting the VHD I installed it on

ran Ubuntu live CD, selected install, install alongside win 7

then, instead of continuing to install it goes to a wall of text (maybe a kernel panic) before ejecting the CD. If I press esc and more text appear. if I press enter the machine reboots

cracked it.

it installs a small program called WUBI.exe

go into windows, run that and it will install ubuntu nicely

My desktop computer is just Ubuntu. i like the whole Lynux style and i have no real problems with it apart from Gimp being balls and that i cannot be arsed actually knowing anything about computers, too much hard work ;)
