Eddie Murphy must be a contender for one of the biggest Hollywood career nose dives ever, based purely on a movie quality basis. How on earth can the same guy who starred and made comedy gold of such movies as Trading Places, Delirious, Beverley Hills Cop, and 48 Hours, end up in such dross as Norbit, Pluto Nash, and Meet Dave?!?!? This guy at his peak, which was strangely at the start of his career, was a comedic genius. His timing and delivery was superb and he had a knack of lighting up a movie screen such was his presence. His stand up was legendary. What on earth happened? Did he get too old for comedy? Surely not. Leslie Neilson didn't an issue with comedy as he got older. In fact, it re-invigorated his entire career. Personally I would love to see Eddie back to his best. He has had some peaks of late. Bowfinger and Dreamgirls provided some glimpses of what he is capable of, but he seems unable to produce consistantly anymore.
