Haven't seen this mentioned, but they've been counting down their top 100 songs per decade, from the 50s to the 90s and they've just published their top 100 of all time.

The top 20 are online here

http://www.nme.com/news/various-artists/64427

And the 100s per decade are here

What an awesome choice for number two.

To be fair, their number one is pretty special, too.

Number 12 not being in the top 10 makes me sad though.

A perfect pop song. I picked up the magazine earlier to see the rest of the list. Some interesting choices, a few surprises too. Video Games, for example. Brilliant song, but it was around the top 30 already.

It’s quoting genius.

I just want to say Off the Wall is still a phenomenal album and I still think John Lydon is a tosser, the berk. I also wish I had been a teenager in the mid-seventies…or the sixties or even the fifties.

So according to that list Dizzee Rascal's Fix Up Look Sharp (at no. 9) is better than anything by Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Blur, Metallica, Guns 'n' Roses, Black Sabbath or Nickelback?

Jesus.

My understanding of the word is that it's a term applied to someone who only likes relatively obscure bands, films and what-not, and then makes a point of it in order to look cool and trendy.

So I have no idea how Jackson 5 and Arctic Monkeys could appeal to a hipster.

Going to listen to the ones I don't know and then give comments.

My understanding of the word is that it's a term applied to someone who only likes relatively obscure bands, films and what-not, and then makes a point of it in order to look cool and trendy.

So I have no idea how Jackson 5 and Arctic Monkeys could appeal to a hipster.

It is a bizarre list to dismiss as hipster. I mean they put Oasis in the top 10, what self respecting hipster listens to Oasis?

So according to that list Dizzee Rascal's Fix Up Look Sharp (at no. 9) is better than anything by Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Blur, Metallica, Guns 'n' Roses, Black Sabbath or Nickelback?

Jesus.

In Nickleback's case, the number 1 worst band in the world, most definitely.

Yeah, I love that song. It's between that and Bring It On Home to Me as my fave Cooke.

So working my way from the bottom of the list up, America is a song I can't really listen to because of someone playing it to death in the past. Loved The Show-Stoppers and already knew and liked Ghost in My House. Then I realised you'd included the Button Moon theme. Excellent choice.

The Kinky Friedman track made me LOL. The Just a Guitar one sounds like it should be on every jukebox in every run-down roadside bar in every lovers on the run movie ever made. The Glenn Branca, wow. Just wow.
