I was going to say that I like the theatrical cut with the happy ending and I don't really like the original ending of the play. Even though the morals are slightly dodgy with the theatrical ending, I still prefer it. I was going to say that until I saw that both versions will be on the Blu Ray, so disregard

I am so going to buy this! It's a bit odd yet awesome to see John Candy on the cover.

Does the theatrical have dodgy morals? What happens at the end of the play?

Theatrical: Seymour gets his happy ever after with Audrey even though he "killed" some folks to feed the plant (Audrey 2)

DC and play: Audrey gets eaten by the plant, as does Seymour who has lost the will to live. Cuttings are taken of the plant, and hundreds of Audrey 2's take over the world.

I said 'slightly' dodgy

And yeah, I think the fact that he lured people to get eaten by the plant yet goes unpunished qualifies. The original version ends with him dying, but like I said, I'm not really a fan of that version. I like seeing the plant explode

Well....yeah...you're right, "killed" is a loose term considering that the dentist gassed himself and Mushnik kind-of "fell" into Audrey II's mouth. Although Seymour was about to get shafted by his boss, blackmailed by something he didn't actually do.

I actually kinda like that.

Love this film, although I haven't seen it in ages. Great songs, incredible puppetry, Levi Stubbs. And the scene with Martin and Murray kills me everytime.

It's a great film

I don't hate the original ending, I just like the theatrical one more. And while those things you mentioned did happen, DC, Seymour was going to commit murder to feed Audrey II, but the dentist's idiocy took over.

Well, the ad says 'with new restored 20 min. alternate ending' and 'includes both theatrical and director's cut' so I can only assume that it has been restored.

And while the original ending works in the play, I like the characters of Seymour and Audrey and want them to be happy, which is why I prefer the 'new' ending. I don't think they deserve to die for that ending to work.

I think I remember reading somewhere that Frank Oz said that them dying in the play works, because you have the actors come out and take a bow afterwards. With a film, they're dead dead dead, and it just ends.
