As a film fan I like to watch and personally review as much and as wide a range of films as I can. Hence I put myself (and tolerated) through Top Cat. First of all I'd like to say that I loved the original, even though were only about 30 episodes, they were brilliant with some great gags that could even make an adult giggle a little. Now imagine an extremely boring, pointless and tedious 20 minute episode stretched out to 90 minutes. It was horrific to say the least! There isn't any positives which I can actually think of looking back at the film. It just seems like a complete waste of time watching the film. Even the children weren't laughing at the in-film gags in the cinemas. The script didn't feel original and nor did the use of 3D which was completely pathetic. Neither do I understand the use of 3D soft graphics for the towns and buildings, but 2D characters? It felt cheesy and...and just not right! The plot was very weak with no attempt to satisfy the original fans of the series.
Save your money or go buy the original for your kids or yourself.
