a plan to release 'the avengers' and marvel films that led to it as a 10 disc set-

wow, didn't think that would happen due to Hulk being Universal and the rest being Paramount.

Same here, although you can get the Die Hard films in one collection, and the third film wasn't made by Fox like the others.

Technically The Avengers was Disney, despite Paramount logo appearing in the trailers they had nothing to do with it.

Disney and Marvel are the same thing.

But yes I was under the impression this box set was not possible due to distribution rights.

Really? Fox logos on all my indivudual DVDs... perhaps because that one is R1

Yeah, in the UK, Die Hard 3 was released by Touchstone but by Fox in the US
