To cut the clip down: File->Open Video File Move the slider to the beginning of the bit you want, click the mark out button (last one along the bottom) Edit->Cut Now move the slider to the end of the section you want, click the mark in button. Move slider to the end of the vob, click mark out Edit->Cut Now you should have just the frames you want for the gif. Optionally, reduce the size of the images: File-> File Information. Jot down the Frame size (probably something like 720x480) Video->Filters->Add->Resize->Ok Enter new width and height, make the largest side 100, divide other side by same factor so it doesnt squish eg/ 100 66.6. Filter mode = Precise Bilinear. Click OK File->Save Image Sequence Minimum number of digits = 4 Choose an empty directory to hold images Output Format = BMP Click OK, Virtualdub spits the images out Then you import the images into your animation program
